Does anybody have an idea how they achieved the mottled look of some of these skins in reality?  (like this one for example) Seems rather difficult for a field paint job - unless there's a simple trick to it.

Sponge painting... Or... 2-3 brooms taped together, each with some bristles randomly cut shorter so they don't pick up the paint.

Curious about the plane with the swastika, was the Nazi party a "thing" at this point, or was that referencing the symbol before it became all evil-like(a pagean symbol of peace, among others)?
