Sure they screwed up big with this game, especially the vehicles... but I've always considered the infantry combat pretty damn good, great even...minus some save decisions and other problems... but for 3 bucks... very well worth the game for the 4 player co-op and/or SP campaign.

Mass Effect 2 is on sale also today... and a couple other good ones.

How can someone say that is "pretty damn good" or that the "infantry combat is pretty damn good".

Common and see this video for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StWArGzWnBU

Really, this game isn't good, this is the worse piece of junk that I ever saw in my live!! And really I wouldn't want this game even if it was for FREE! HELL, I wouldn't want this game even if someone PAID me 30 dollars (or more) to have it!!

I play OFPDR user made SP campaign all the time and really enjoy it.That You tube video is pretty fun but it is not how the game is played those are your own men shooting at you after you fired on them.

I also think its a pretty good infantry combat game.

I think you're thinking of Rogue Warrior.

No it's not! In the video the player is playing as a Chinese soldier against American (AI) soldiers!
You can see that the player is carrying a Chinese assault rifle.

If that video is "not enough" here's an another one, which shows how ridiculous the OFP:DR really is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB3beipbwx4&feature=related

You can clearly see in that video that the AI soldiers are enemy to the player! And there's lot more similar videos from the same place where that one came wink

BTW, even if someone paid me 300 (3 hundred) dollars I wouldn't want that game - Well for 300 dollars I would accept it, but as soon as I got my hands on the money I would trash it in the garbage can (and if a DVD disc wasn't so hard I would use it as toilet paper!)

Personal taste is a personal taste but there's absolutelly NO EXCUSE for the ridiculous "issues" that this game has!

I'm getting it for $3. That's cheap for a full game in a genre that I'm interested in.

Not like Arma 2 hasn't got any bugs.. <snicker> but I play that too.

My Q. Have YOU ever played it or the demo?

I agree it's a bad game with alot of issues, most fixed in patches, not all... but I played it, and the SP campaign and the co-op missions are worth 3 bucks if you like shooters.

But if you refuse to play it... thats fine, but why do we need to know.

We get it. You don't like it. Cool.

I thought it was awesome and a hell of a lot more approachable than ArmA2.

It's a great game that simply could have been even better. Got it on both console and pc and it's worth it. Just because a player is carrying a Chinese rifle it doesn't mean anything. You can pick up any rifle in the game. As for the other video, seems that guy just bought the game to find exploits rather than actually play the thing. That's a lot of effort just to be obnoxious.

So let me get this straight:

1 - Sure they screwed up big with this game, especially the vehicles
2 - some save decisions and other problems
3 - it's a bad game with alot of issues
4 - most (issues) fixed in patches, not all

....and this is your definition of a "great" game?? And then you get all defensive when someone states an opinion to the contrary?? You know, you'll probably sleep better at night if you just accept that not everyone likes the same things you do right

BTW, you also refer to OFP as a shooter....I thought this franchise presented itself as a tactical squad combat game, simulation even, not a shooter. Did I miss something here? FWIW (which I know isn't much), I didn't like this franchise at all - vehicle control blew chunks and the sniper-like accuracy of every AI enemy was a little frustrating. I never played DR cuz I didn't like OFP GoTY so much!! To each their own I guess...

I'm a reasonable guy, but I've just experienced some very unreasonable things...

Great game...very fun SP and co-op for 3 bucks... thats my point, no not worth 60, 50, 40, 30, 20... maybe 10...that is all... not sure how I'm "getting all defensive" by posting a sale news item...but as long as you sleep better at night, whatever the hell that means. lol

What I can't stand is someone posting how terrible a game is when they've never played it, (not knowing if nicruins ever had or not) but yet people who have, have a different opinion.

and finally...can't believe how much attention this game still gets when mentioned, lol... 3 bucks people... well worth it if you like Tactical Shooters, and thats what I think OFP DR is.

Oh...just some background info readers... As a SimHQ Admin I've had past issues with ricnunes and D.R.

It's kinda funny, well really pathetic, that certain members who don't like me, because I've disagreed with them in the past or had to correct their online behavior, follow me around the forums and look for every opportunity to counter whatever I say... ya, funny. I'm waiting for DD and RB to show up next with some anti-magnum comment, the life of an admin. wink

Seriously... don't take my word or anyone one elses... go with what the majority is saying... if you want a great SP and/or 4 player cooperative tactical shooter, cheap... then you can't go wrong with OFPDR for 3 bucks. wink

OUT... Merry Christmas folks.... back to some ArmA2. wink

I promise you I lose no sleep over "shooter", "game" or "sim" labels, or someone's opinion. wink

Nope, the player is playing as an opposing side as the AIs on those videos. You can look at the mission editor video and CLEARLY see that, if you want to, that is!

Well, that's where I say that you're either paranoid or value yourself too much rolleyes
For what's worth I've agreed with you in other threads as well, but yes, please continue with your paranoia!

Anyway like I said in a previous post of mine, I actually played the game so I guess that "qualifies" me as a critic of this game!

When this game came out we would play it at work instead of OFP, ARMA or VBS (which we were getting paid to work on) because it was a hell of a lot more "fun". To each his own. We also would play Raven Shield over ARMA, VBS, etc as well. After so many years of OFP, VBS1/2, ARMA1/2 you just get sick of it.

OFPDR was a lot of fun to play through for SP and since I'm not a MP player at all it was well worth the money vs ARMA1 anyway. ARMA2 is just unplayable for me.
