Is an option added to the QMB to save settings (like in Il-2) where you can create some QMB missions and then save them to load them when wanted later once you've found a particular mission setup that you like. Not knowing anything about how this game is coded (not that it owuld help me smile ) but I don't know how easy or hard this would be to do but I'd find it quite useful! So how about it? Worthy addition or useless feature?

I believe that, when you started a mission with the QMB, the generated mission sits in one of the folders, so it should be possible to alt-tab out and then move it into the missions folder, so you can start it by clicking on "missions" in the main screen.

But i'm not 100% sure if it works this way, will need to check it when i get home.

I figure that you can probably do that but what I'm talking about here is convenience ;), and ease of use regarding the GUI by having a "Load" and "Save" button in the QMB interface for this purpose. Would make life so much easier.

Totally agree, we should of course be able to load and save quick missions.

It'd be nice if they could carry over the QMB into multiplayer as well, or at the very least, the option to save out a singleplayer mission generated through the QMB as a multiplayer co-op or something.

Yes, that would be helpful. I bet that you can probably do that now with a little bit of work. It would be along the lines of what MattM posted above. I'm sure you'd still have to open it up in the editor and enable all the planes you want to be flyable for the MP session but I bet it's doable.

Two things I would like to see is a way to make the AI easier and Also I would like to know how to make my weapon more effective. Even flying aginst an easy opponent and at a novice setting I still get shot down 10 to 20 times more than i can bring down.I do not play on line ,ever.

Please don't tell me to fly better because that is not in the cards. I just would like to have a little more fun as I am loosing intrest in a game i have well over $100 invested in.

Most of the time i just fly around chasing the opponents little red or blue arrow and don't even see a plane. when i do get glimps it is fleeting. on the rare occasion when i do pour bulletts into the AI it has little or no effect. It takes me many many passes to shoot a truck. when i think i have shot most of them and exit i see that maybe i have only one to my credit. I relly like the graphics and the controls. Just give me, at my old age, a better chance. If by chance I do get better then I can set the AI better.

When Grand PPrix Legends finally was moded to make the AI more competetive or easier for the average player , a lot more people became involved and it has now lasted since 1998.

You young and very good flyers with great reflexexs and good eyes will not understan but I bet if more players were honest they also would like a better chance at hitting something.

And obviousy I realize it is a simulation. But the quality of a good sim is not how hard it is to play. IL2 is a great sim but i can achieve a lot of succes by making the settings suit my flying. I can not do this in ROF.

Regards
Pawgy

Pawgy, and in ROF forums people are complaining that AI is too easy, even ACE settings...

You can get used to everything, but icicle in the a**. It melts before you get used to it.

The last thing ROF needs is easier AI settings.

Pawgy, I'd try setting up a quick mission where you have a significant advantage over your AI opponent in terms of height. He then won't be able to climb to meet you very easily, but you should have all the cards. If you're starting missions with them already close enough to be dogfighting you hard, you'll find it much trickier.

I don't see the harm in a complete revision of AI, tbh - making the basic AI very very simple, and the toughest AI much harder.

That's exactly what i'm asking for, since August or September 2009 (can't remember, posted it in the wishlist :D).

Anyway, i did start a 30 plane (15 D.III's vs. 15 Pups) quick-mission to test if my ROF still crashes yesterday.

When i ran out of ammo, i had shot down 11 Pups, nobody hit me in that fight and all but one D.III was still in the air, as were 3 of the other Pups. So in that time (maybe 10-15 minutes), two planes were shot down by those 29 AI planes.

And AI was set to ACE.

I know that the AI can fly some planes better then others (D.VII and D.IIIa are both pretty tough), but overall, the AI does need to be improved alot. If you trouble with the AI, i recommend fighting against B&Z planes, like the SE5a, SPAD, D.XII (even though the AI is notably better in that plane imo) or the tricky T&B planes like the DR.I, Camel and Tripe (the AI has problems flying those).

IMHO, the Ace AI should get the "extend away" routines that they had in the initial release version.

Let the guys below them do the close engagement stuff, but it the Aces would regain the sense that they don't have to stay close to the player it would make for much better fights.

Also, like a lot of sims, mixing the AI seems to give much, much better results than if they're all uniform in skill.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.com

Pawgy, I'd recommend, if you're interested in improving your gunnery, using the invulnerability option for your plane until you are at a level that you feel like you're ready to take on damage again while dog fighting. This will help limit the frustration you may feel while trying to build up confidence while you hone your shooting skills.

I also agree with Dart, Ace AI should at least be given that extend away ability that they used to have.

Now... if we only had a Load and Save button for that QMB GUI... biggrin

Why would you make a comment like this? If anyone does not likee an easier setting (if it were avilable) they would just not use it.

Only , young and VG flyers say it is too easy. Also maybe those with new and very powerful computers.

What could pssible be wrong with this idea?

thanks for your reply. When i fly with invunaerabily on I really do not enjoy the sim at all.

Yesterday I was flying a QM aginst a random recon. At about 75 yards or meters I fired directly into the rear of the AI with no effect. At 75 meters his rear gunner shot me down with one burst. I have never been able to do damage at that distance.

I uninstalled ww1 and Screaming Deamos because the AI anti aircraft was rediculously accurate. totally unrealistic.

As i say i have over $100 invested in Rof and I hate to give but a 20 to 1 ratio of shot downs to kills is no fun. I realluy dont care how good some other simmers are or how hard the want the AI. I wuld like a very easy setting.

Regards.

I'm no great ace but I shot down three SE.5a's in an Eindecker yesterday, the reason being that I knew exactly how they were going to fight. I shouldn't have been able to do it, and certainly wouldn't be able to online. It's months since a single-player AI put a hole in me. The AI certainly need an overhaul, but whether making a really simple version would really help I don't know. It certainly wouldn't hurt though.
Pawgy, if you want to improve your gunnery then someone made a mission to allow you to do just that - all different types of aircraft circling a field, and they don't fight back so you can practice to your heart's content. It's called 'Drones', but I've forgotten who built it or where I got it from, but someone here should know.

cheers

Got it and flew quite a bit. Just can not seem to get any better. My guns don't have bullets in them

I am hardly that good of a pilot, yet, like others have said, defeating the AI even at Ace skill level is not that hard. It does not fly "energy" planes (e.g., SPAD) well, making for very easy fights.

Not seeing how being young and having a good computer factors into success with this game. There are players older than me (and I'm hardly young) that would wipe the floor with me every single time.

Pawgy, record your fights and watch the tracks afterward. Then you can better see what you did wrong. For example, if you were leading too little, you can watch it from the enemy's point of view, then you'll see that the bullets were going behind him. Then go to your point of view and see what it looked like. Eventually, you'll be able to feel where your nose should be at various speeds and angles in order to get the correct lead. Say, what kind of joystick do you have?
