Hi fox, I had the same trouble, see Pooch's thread here http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3149565/1/First_Patch_That_I_m_Not_Happy.htmlIn my case, it was fixed by enabling Catalyst AI and setting to 'Advanced'. You can also try enabling adaptive antialialising if you don't already (prior to Catalyst 10.11 I took a big FPS hit doing so, no longer.) I have the same card as you, (my Specs are in the post) and this worked great for me. Do you also use 'Driver Sweeper' to clear out remnants of old drivers before installing new ones? Maybe you do, just to confirm. If you haven't tried this already, hope it helps.

Thanx Biggles07, I updated to Cat 10.11 and still cannot get frame rates back up to where they were before even only using 57% of the GPU. The new driver added about 10 FPS so I now get ~35 FPS. Thats a fifty percent decrease in performance with levels turned down. Not good.
Have you checked on your cards performance and noticed if your memory clocks rise above idle when the game runs. I have and they do not budge on my card above 507/500, they should adjust to 750/900. I am curious if others notice this or is my game in need of a new installation.
I used riva tuner, turned on hardware monitor to monitor core and memory clocks and they just flat line. Only one GPU works in this sim, I wish they could allow crossfire.
Wish I could roll back to the previous ver. Are you sure CF doesn't work? I don't have riva tuner, but i have open hardware monitor. It doesn't show me a a graph of gpu core activity, but it does show a temp graph, and give me the min and max core usage. It shows the core heat up and remains in line with the other core, and it shows the max on both cores were at 100% after playing. I will say that I also took a big fps hit after the patch. But in my case I found it was the super sampling filter. Once i went back to multi-sampling, I seem to be back to pre-patch levels. Almost anyway. I'm a noob here, so I don't have much experience with this game, but in the few hours i had before the patch, and using the same mission as a test, I think I've only lost performance on the ground. I assume it is the new filtering for ground textures. Good luck, hope you get it figured out.

I played some last night and both my cards were running hot and at 80+% throughout the game. These are 6870's, and I know they made some improvements to the cf scaling, so i wonder if that's it. Tonight, if i get a chance before i go out of town, I'll try it with cf disabled to see what the performance is like.
For reference, I play at 1920X1200 with all settings on max except med hdr. I had the light sources @ 4, but after playing around with them, i see no difference at 20. The only other thing that really screws my fps is when i use supersampling AA from the CCC. I saw single digits when it was on. (At least I think that was what did it) Anyway. In the first campaign mission, of the first campaign ("hat in the ring"?), i get about 40 to 50 fps on the ground, and once up above 1000 feet or so, they pretty much lock in at the v sync limited 60. I see some drops into the 50's when i look down at towns or heavy forest. And I must admit, i've got some newer games and this is the first one that has ever gone below that V-Sync limited 60. ( I hate tearing so I always use the vsync). So maybe it's not really taking advantage of the crossfire. I'll let you know what i see when i try it without the CF enabled. I'll be gone a few days, so i ;might not get a chance to test it until I get back.
And BTW, I've got a laptop with a intel p8500, 4 gig's of ddr3, and a 9800M pro.(vista os) How do you think it will play the game? I was debating weather to install it and take my joystick with me. it has got an HDMI hook up, and the hotel has nice flat screens. it works well with some other games i play, but this one is so demanding, i think it may not be worth the effort when it's so glorious on my home PC.
Oh and btw, my cpu specs are a 950 @ 4 gHz, with 6 gig of cas7 1600 ram, on win7 64

fox3, there is a known problem with the ATI HD4870 X2 not utilizing both cores properly. AMD/ATI has admitted to this. Try a Google search about it.
The 10.9a are the most sucessful Hotfix for 4870x2, the 10.11 Cats are actually older and don't include this hotfix...

ArgonV thank you for this heads up. I will check into this hotfix. Funny I was using Cat 10.9 until the patch came out and only just upgraded to 10.11 trying to figure out the loss in FPS. I have the sim running at 35+ FPS now but would love to get it back above 60FPS. I never noticed it running on one core before as it ran very well and I had no complaints. It was only after getting huge reductions in FPS with the new patch that I started investigating and found the problem with the clocks running at idle and only one GPU active.

Biggles07, there is also a 10.10e hotfix revision, but I am uncertain if it includes the ATI 4870X2 fixes... So for 4870s as I know right now, 10.9a is the best way to go. The 10.10e has updates for only AMD Radeon™ HD 6800 Graphics series and ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Graphics series it seems: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/gpu88-catalyst-10-10e-hotfix.aspxHere's the info from AMD concerning the 10.9e hotfix: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/ATICatalyst109Hotfix.aspxI know the 10.10e hotfix updates are not included in 10.11, which is why I said 10.11 is not the newest...
