Is it just me or do the loading screens have really low resolution compared to previous versions?

This was brought up on the ROF forums, it's a try at reducing the 'out of memory' errors.

...they are indeed butt-ugly!

But if it helps, I don't mind. I'd rather have loading screens like that, then in-game screens like that. I mean, it's not like you look at them for any length of time.

I really don't mind either. Though I can really tell with an Eyefinity setup with 3 monitors. wink

This. Also, they aren't that bad. I think they look fine, although of course not nearly as nice as the previous ones.

surprising they can't show the images from the memory, then unload them when the mission starts...

I think the issue is Freycinet, having that extra free mem available for loading...

I can't say I enjoy looking at the new compressed loading screens either. But I also think anything that can improve memory management is a good thing.

There is a way to change the screens IIRC, I'd prefer to look at inky backness than what is presented now

The images aren't that nice but if they reduce load times or inprove in game performance then that's what's important.

Never had an out of memory error, and as they don't improve my loadup times (still achingly slow), then my vote is for a return to the original quality screenies.

cheers

Well, I think it improved the load time for me. Now I don't have the stop watch out but it does seem to be a little fast.
I will say one thing this build is the smoothest I have had the game run for me yet.

I finally left the Nhancer supported drivers, and I have some shimmering but what can a guy do.
Apache Air Assualt wouldn't run with the old 197 Nvidia drivers, so I had to make the change.
I will miss having absolutly no shimmering, however it pretty much looks like the screen shots I'm seeing from eveyone else, so I will have to deal with it.

I haven't tryed flying the 0/400 handley page yet, simply because I haven't had time to make a new control layout. Im still using my old one.

Agree 100%

I'mnot too sure about the colours with mid-day lighting but everything is silky smooth. Also panning is smoother with my MSFF2 and TIR, but then I never did have the bad stutters people described.

Yeah I agree with you on the colors, they kind of seem washed out to me with the mid-day lighting.
