I just reinstalled Falcon 4 AF after a year or so being out of it, and it works perfectly. No weird graphic issues. No performance issues. No multiplayer issues. Got to love it. I have been messing around with DCS A10 and even today I think Falcon AF gives it a run for its money. If there is some sort of hall of fame for gaming developers, the guys at Microprose and Lead Pursuit deserve to be inducted.

Relative to Falcon AF, A10 looks a little better and the terrain is a bit nicer, but Falcon AF is no slouch, especially with hitiles and aeyes. And it runs so much better than A10. And lets not even compare campaign engines. This sim was so far ahead of its time.

You sure got that right - after all these years Falcon is still an amazing ride and if you read the news today, re: Nth Korea/Sth Korea tensions, well this sim was way ahead of its time.

To be fair tho, DCS A10 is still beta and they have not tweaked the graphics engine for better fps yet, but you have to wonder, if we would still be flying and enjoying this new sim after 10 years?? To compete with Falcon long term tho, they are going need a decent campaign engine (dynamic).

The content of Falcon 4 AF is truly immense and is what makes it so playable - graphics have never made a game good - only look good.

If LP could add DX9 graphics, 3D clicky pit, and modern weapons they would still have a world beating simulator!

Yeah. LP knew how to do it!
I wonder why they didn't continue their great work, and came up with a brand new sim 10 years after.

Maybee money was an issue?

IMO, F30-AF greatness is due to it's AI. If it didn't have great AI, it would be another sim with a half-butt flight model, weapon system, dum targets and no campaign engine. The developers modeled everything the best they could, throu into the matrix and countries are at war. Their 20 century AI surpasses current game developer, from what I can tell.

As for new sim, IMO, major improvements in hardware is needed, mainly video res.

Yeah, Falcon is a classic. I don't know if we'll ever see another sim of this caliber, but I am very glad that Microprose and LP took the time to give us such an incredible gift. To think I paid $30 for this sim. This is the first time I have experienced Falcon at 1920 x 1200, and boy oh boy does it look good. And flying it is such a treat. Totally believable. I still don't get that feeling from any other flight sim. For anyone interested in fighter sims, if you haven't tried Falcon you don't know what you are missing. Learning how to fly and fight with an F16 is daunting. Mastering it takes years. And that is the beauty of Falcon 4 Allied Force. It is truly that deep and immense.

Multiplayer with Hamachi works well too. The trick is to setup Falcon for Internet instead of LAN, and then use the IP address from Hamachi for the host. Works like a charm.

Not sure, but I would love to see an expansion that includes another theater and fixes/enhances a few things. I'd buy it in a second. Keep the engine the same. Runs perfect, and you don't need a massive PC to enjoy it.
