Trying to install Jane's F/A 18 onto my new Win 7 64 bit system, and actually be able to fly the sim. I haven't been able to find a fix as of yet. But, I'm sure there is at least one of you out there that has done this? I've installed and attempted the following:
Tried the one click installer for TSH 3.06, I think (I'm at work at the moment). That didn't do the trick.
Uninstalled everything, re-installed J/F 18,
Tried TSH v 4.02, followed all the steps in the readme, set up controller assignments... in TSH Manager to no avail.
Problem: Click on the J/F 18.exe and my screen goes black with my mouse pointer just hovering there in the middle of the screen. CTL ALT DEL after about 3-4 minutes and I see that J/F 18 has quit responding. Well no screamin' eagle poop. Anywho, any suggestions?

Got it up and running on win 7 64 this weekend. This is what I did:
1. installed the program out of "program files" in its own folder, in my case "G:FA18";
2. installed the 1.01 patch.
3. installed TSH 4.02 via JSGME.
voila, was up and running.

I also let the program install the desktop shortcut and use that to start the game and do not use any compatibility mode.
apart from that, the only thing that occurs to me is a hardware/driver conflict. For example, in my case, I can't get IL-2 1946 to instal on my box.

You don't need the 1.01 patch because it is already included in TSHv4. The tricks form me to get Janes F/A-18 THSV4 it running on windows 7 64x were: 1. Install the sim in Program Files(x86). 2. Don't use any compatibility mode. 3. Set Resolution same as desktop on TSH Manager.
531 Ghost, what kind of errors are you getting? I'll try installing to the Program Files(x86) later tonight. I did set the resolution to the same as desk top as it wasn't an option (1920 x 1080). No error per se, that I can detect or have detected. It just quits "responding" We'll see what happens... Thanks.

I would try a quick directx 9 redist install from microsoft, latest as far as I remember is the june one, if you haven't done that yet. ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3b170b25-abab-4bc3-ae91-50ceb6d8fa8d ) Fills some holes and gaps in compatibility with old dx versions. Apart from that, only common things, like latest drivers checks etc. I am running it without issues under win7 64bit. (I need to use the compatibility, otherwise I have no voiceover)

Ghost,
There are 3 'default' resolutions in the Jane's F/A-18 Options menu (at least on my install).
1024x768 1280x960 1600x1200
Recommend you temporarily set your desktop, and TSHv3 manager settings, to one of these while attempting to troubleshoot your F/A-18 install. You sir, are a GENIUS!!!! Off to try 1600x1200 and then install addons! THANK YOU!!!! If you are still in NOLA on my next trip to Foley, you can't buy a drink!
