Apparently Groom AFB does not have lights, so an instrument landing w/o night vision goggles was out of the question.
Is it me or is that runway ridiculously narrow?
So is it standard procedure to takeoff/land with NVGs on now? or are we supposed to follow IFR and ILS inputs?
I think I got some pics, even though you really can't see anything, MAN is it dark in the desert at night, its quite scary being ENTIRELY reliant on your instruments, its incredibly disorientating as well.
So, printscrn saves pictures, ja?

Try doing it at night with a CADC failure. No altimeter, no speed guages. All you have it your backup artificial horizon and the sound of the wind to estimate speed.
And i didnt find out about he night goggles till later! (or how to use the AOA indexer )
Still got her down though although i almost stalled as i came in too low and blew one tyre on the runway. It was an experience and the sense of relief when i popped the canopy was amazing.

Yeah, but was this at Groom with a complete blackout? There are absolutely no reference points, no lights on the runway. Its scary, even with goggles, and imposssible to do without unless they have ILS set up, I don't know how to turn it on yet.

So, printscrn saves pictures, ja? Yeah, it saves to the screenshot folder in your main DCS directory. Then just use the SimHQ uploader and you are in biz.
