What is your FPS during ARMA2 OA?
and what is your hardware and its settings?

Thanks

Depending on the island, I usually get from high 30's to low 40's. However when there's a ton of vegetation it drops down to the teens as my video card is definitely my bottleneck. Sometimes if there's a lot of AI, I only get to the mid-high 20's but it's still very smooth and playable.

Settings are:

Visibility - 3500m
3D resolution - 133%
Video memory - Default
Anisotropic filtering - Very High
Anti-Aliasing - Disabled
PP - Low
Textures, Terrain, Objects, and Shadows all on High

Hey NoUse, what card would you get to replace? I've been thinking of looking into it soon. Although I really would like a better CPU to help with my larger battles.

System Vitals: Intel i5 9600, RTX2060, 16GB DDR3000(OC), Win10 Home 64bit, Saitek X-52, Logitech G27
Current Sims: MSFS2020, Assetto Corsa, StrikeFighters2, IL2:BoS etc, Arma3, American Truck Simulator, SnowRunner

The Summer Plants Mod for Chenrus missions is a must. This mod should be standard. This will gain you FPS and looks way better too.

Running the latest Beta can help too. One of the new options is Vsync off and they throw in lots of other fixes that help. It won't affect your connecting online since it is client side. I have always run the latest beta. Never a issue connecting on the SimHQ and playing MM.

I always turn off the post-process affects and shadows. Shadows is a big FPS eater.

Don't always use the latest video driver out there. For example if have a Nvidia card and it is not a Nvidia 400 series card stay with the 197.45 version of the drivers.

And the number one way is..... RAM DRIVE, RAM DRIVE, RAM DRIVE. Don't fall into the SSD money trap. Let the market/technology settle. SSD's are obsolete the day you get them home. A newer faster one comes out every other day. Don't get burned by them like you did when CD-ROM drives came out. You just got the 6x CD home and you find out there is already an 8x!!!!! Doh!!!! Wait and save your money for RAM. RAM for your motherboard is never obsolete and will always be faster than any SSD.

My settings:

All HIGH
PP off
Shadows off
5000 view distance

XRoK,

Change your video memory line in your .cfg to this since you have 2Gig Video RAM and see what happens. Make sure you set it to read only after changing it. That way ArmA doesn't reset it.

You should be smoking cause you can load almost everything into a RAM DISK.

BTW. A new beta just hit with a memory fix. Try that too.

It's definitely not your vid card, Xrok, because I have a 5850 w/ Win 7 64 and it rarely stumbles. What I have been very happy with is the scaling of the Intel chips though. I know they're more expensive, but I was able to play Arma 2 w/ a 8800 on an original C2D well enough. When I moved to the 5850, it was even better. I now have a i7 875 and the game is plenty smooth w/ PP and shadows off.

Thanks
