eek2

Let's see for comparison's sake...

I'm 10+ years younger...
I warm up with 100-150 pushups at the gym...
I've no idea how many situps I can do, but it isn't 2000...
I can sustain 7 to 7.5 minute miles over varied terrain...

And I can't hold a candle to this geezer!

Most impressive, Mr. Walker. All I can say is that your myostatin does not function like most other people's!

I'm 52 in a few days, last time I maxed out my push-ups I did 109 of them, though if you want to count circuit cycles of push-ups I can do way more than that, and like shan2, I have no idea how many sit-ups I can do.

But the important thing to note is that in the 52 year old body, if you've done much in life, everything hurts. All joints, bones, fingers, toes, you name it. There's pain everywhere to one degree or another, and you get used to smelling like camphor and eucalyptus all the time.

When I do push-ups, my right shoulder hurts like hell, and my left shoulder not only hurts like hell, but actually emits sound, much like the sound made by one of those pepper grinders that they fill with peppercorns and put on the table, when it's twisted. And I won't even mention what my back feels like in perfect push-up position.

So I figure either this guy is a masochist's masochist, or he has lived a soft life and hasn't had his fair dose of personal pain yet. But he's gonna get it! Once you hit fifty, you better start easing back on the throttle a little! Last time I got bucked off a horse, I didn't bounce anywhere near as nicely as I once did! I got right back up, but there's still things hurting from that ride, and that was awhile back!

Cheers!

My left knee and the lower right side of my back are my problem areas. (Let's not even talk about the hands...) The knee tends to grind and the back tends to pop (and seize) during aggressive grappling. What's happened is that repeated impacts have eroded away the soft cartilage and the scarred stuff is a bit calcified and can't take the same kind of pummeling without micro-fracturing. One of the reasons I have to keep working out and practicing martial arts is because, if I stop, little spaces start forming in my joints as the muscle tissue that acts as filler thins out. Those are a nasty source of aches and pains.

There's just something genetically odd about Herschel Walker. Someone who's been a professional football player should have cartilage and connective tissue that are so scarred that their tolerance for heavy compression and stretching are poor.

yep, age is a cruel thing. I can't even shoot as well as I used to. I bet I've degraded at least 25%. Some of that is frequency and some of it is just pure "gettin old".
