I am not sure of the spelling of the yells by the services...someone please correct me.

I came across this link when reading about the marking of the 10th year of the afghan war...man busted for posing as a Marine and sentenced to 7.5 years of jailtime. this is a pet peeve of mine, especially when politicians lie about their awards and/or service to impress their constituents.

7 and a half years in prison for wearing a uniform of a marine which isn't against any law that I know of and getting cheaper airline tickets. Many more crimes going on out there and this is just petty IMO.

If he is sad enough to create this fantasy world then a slap on the wrist and some community service should suffice.

Actually, here in the USA impersonating a service member with intent to deceive is a crime.

So one could dress as a Marine, but the second one claims to be a Marine it's an illegal act. Basically it the same rules as with police uniforms.

Also, you can wear the clothing items of the uniform, but you are not supposed to have rank and insignia on it.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

Hoorah is the correct spelling of the Marine cheer.

Commonly it is spoken oohrah

The booyah is a new Army thing apparently trying to mimic the Marine Corps.

In WWII the Army cheer was YO!

Not knocking the Army or any other branch

On topic, lock the dirt bag up.

Want to wear the suit? Earn it!

One of my pet peeves is Marine wannabees selling their stories.

"Hooyah!" is the U.S. Navy, most often associated with the Special Warfare community.

As a disabled veteran with a ribbon or two and various and sundry gedunk and junk on my togs, I'd have to say that seven and a half years for being a pathetic idiot is too stiff a sentence. Hell, there's people out there that have taken lives that didn't get seven and a half years!

I don't even give a damn about these impostors, anyone with some sense can spot them on sight and knows they're full of sh*t after speaking to them for two minutes or less, and I've got better things to do than chase them around trying to make them behave. In my opinion, it brings us veterans down to make a big deal of them. They number amongst the people that I designate "self punishing" as do most a*sholes. How happy can they be if they're dressing up as something they're not and running around trying to convince people?

I'm just not the sort of guy who builds an Internet shrine to my military career and never gets over it. I'm not even the same person I was back then. The Lioness has civilized me. There's more to my life than my military service. And I just don't find that I get angry over things like this. It tends more to inspire pity in me. How empty can this be for the morons, wearing medals and uniforms they don't merit, and claiming to have done things that they know damn well that they didn't do? Fairly pathetic if you ask me. But certainly not seven and a half years worth.

I'd rather see him sentenced to counseling aimed at trying to convince him that his life has value for who he really is, and maybe some community service collecting donations for the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society or something. Taking away seven and a half years of his life and throwing him in some ungodly sh*thole where he'll be victimized over and over again is not justice in my eyes.

Cheers!

Rick... nope

Ever gotten any discounts on airline tickets for wearing it? I don't think they'd let you anywhere near a ElAl flight dressed like that.

LOL!! Just joking of course. However, I do have some replica WWII German medals and insignia. I was too poor to buy authentic ones.

Prince Harry tried something vaguely similar to that and it didn't go down too well... biggrin

Hell...send him to the closest MCRD! 12 weeks of tender loving care from a wonderful Drill Instructor would change his life.

It sure changed mine! yep

Not that I don't wholly approve of your comments, but...

Why does that remind me of Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven" so much? hahaha

Isn't the Army "Hooah" derived from HUA= "heard, understood, acknowledged"?

OG should know that. ready

Well, The Lioness now has something to laugh about for the rest of the day, LOL! But truthfully, I'm just as meek as a lamb these days. I got over being a berserker, really!

And yes, the Army's "Hooah" does originate from "HUA", no need to wait for OG to show up and address this, the Navy can answer for him in his absence! Unfortunately, you've misunderstood what "HUA" stands for, but don't worry, we'll get you straightened out here!

HUA = Hungry, Underpaid, Addlepated; which describes a substantial percentage of U.S. Army personnel.

Cheers!

Rick... hahaha

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.
