One of my sons has given me subject OS (I now have the 32bit version on my PC), and so I guess I will install it. I know I have read here where folks use the 64bit Win 7 and play the game, anyhow, my question - should I anticipate any difficulties? I intend just to copy my game file (UP 2.0n by the way) to an external drive, put in a new hard drive, install the OS, then copy the game file back to the drive. Does this sounds OK? Any other thoughts? My game runs just fine using Win 7 32bit, and I just don't want to jeopardize it.

Thanks for any info.

Runs fine in Win7 64Bit. I did have some trouble running it the first time, so I ran the original exe once, replaced it again with the modified il2fb.exe and have ticked the "turn visual themes off" in the compatibility tab, when you right-click on the exe and select "properties".

I've been running it fine with no tweaking or unnecessary changes. Install might be a problem but copying the game as you suggested should work without difficulty. No need to disable themes or anything like that.

I do suggest not installing anywhere near C:\Program Files... Put it somewhere else (for me it's C:\Games\Ubisoft\ etc.).

Hmmm... Could be because I'm running Eyefinity and have the taskbar on the left side of the left screen. I dunno.

I found out the hard way that ATI and Windows 7(64) does not allow driver level V-Sync (yet), so games like IL-2 which don't provide support for in-game V-Sync will tear like crazy. My solution was to install Windows XP on a separate HD and dual boot (BIOS), which is fine if you've got an extra HD, but if I didn't I would have been mighty upset...

Thank you for the responses. Makes me more certain of what I am doing (will do). I was running the game outside the Program Files in the 32bit version, so I will certainly do the same. And, with the 64bit Win 7, I'm even gonna add a bit more memory. Everyone tells me that I can, and my PC will actually use it.

Thanks again, from someone old (68 this month) and not too computer smart.
