Haven't seen my kids for a long while, and my eldest daughters pure devotion to me is hard to explain.
Tears there, yes, but how hard is it to explain all the other emotions and feelings at a time like this.....
Kindest regards,
AJ

Her: You are too! I can see it. Are you crying again?
Me: No.
Her: You are too! You've used up a whole box of Kleenex today.
Me: Did not.
Her: You want some more?
Me: Yes, please.

The other thought that keep running through my head is how many of these men and women have been re-deployed since these homecomings.
That and those whose loved ones didn't make it home at all.
This is a terrific video, but like you, I can't help but think about all those families out there who never got a chance to see their loved ones walk through the door. Drives home the true cost of war.

Yeah it made me cry like a baby as it should because I love my country and love being a Dad.
We can't all be as tough as this guy.
Thanks to all the Dads and Moms that are returning home from service. I also pray for the families of those still waiting for them to return and those who are with loss.
I remember the feeling of coming back in October of 2003. I had been away before (Korea for a year in 1999) but the feeling on seeing my wife and kid was somewhat different. When we left for the war we really didn't have any idea what might ...happen or when we would be back. The worst part of deploying is the separation from the family. You lose days with the kids that you will never get back. You lose time with your spouse that is precious and can't be recovered. The sacrifice that our soldiers, sailors and airmen give for our country is more than just their time, their efforts or even their lives. They are giving their souls for us. And they never really feel comfortable with being thanked. But thank them anyway.

Haha it's a good feeling man, but odd. My head's still over there. Hasn't really hit me yet that I'm home.

You're home man, you're home. Welcome back!
I remember the days on this board when you actually quoted old pharts like Rick and me.
Glad we didn't screw you up too much!

If you ask me, I don't exactly know or see what I did over there. Marjah still sucks. The outlying district I cleared and worked in after I cleared Marjah still sucks. Maybe it's because I didn't see the big picture but whatever. Def glad to be back in America.
