Superb filming, very professional, best movie yet made with RoF!
How do you control the "camera"? - As in the smooth pan of the windsock in the beginning?
Do you make a script first with all the shots, or do you just put them together as you go along?
Some positive critique: I saw two small errors in the text. "School friend" in one word, and a few comma's that shouldn't be there. Also, when Brown begins the low chase, the sequence seems a bit disjointed, flight over no-man's-land, then suddenly green forest...
I like that you don't go overboard with effects (the typical first error of video makers, "because they can"). However, I was wondering if a little Ken Burn's effect on the text wouldn't look good. It would add to the dynamism of the whole movie.
Excellent effort and it must have been a huge piece of work. Can't wait to see your next opus!

It would add to the dynamism of the whole movie. Thanks for that. Always grateful for feedback - It's the only way to improve! In answer to your questions - The camera shake is simply waggling the mouse around during recording - not very technical I'm afraid! The smooth panning is again just a sweep of the mouse.. I don't make a script, but have an idea of the story in my head, knowing I'm going to need a take off scene followed by a cruise shot etc - I try to keep them all in separate groupings on the timeline and pull the scenes together at the end. To be honest the text is the biggest headache - It's surprisingly difficult to not miss things - I've been through it a thousand times but still missed "Schoolfriend" You end up seeing what you expect to see! Commas are my weak point! I never know where to put them! As for the green fields at the end - that was deliberate - as they fly across the lines and some distance beyond as Richthofen became target fixated on May. What is the Ken Burn's effect? I'd be interested...

Ah thanks, I did actually try and do that for the images, but couldn't work out how! I'm sure there's a way.. Mind you, not everyone liked it - Someone just posted this on the YouTube comments.. - Historically inaccurate - Visually poorly thought out It gives the impression of a very low budget movie inspired by Hollywood. There's more to movies than shaking cameras and fancy computer graphics.

It gives the impression of a very low budget movie inspired by Hollywood. There's more to movies than shaking cameras and fancy computer graphics. No, it doesn't. It gives the impression of a fantastic movie that is very well done. That comment probably comes out of jealousy and spite rather than reason. If there's one critique I'd have made it's that I would have blurred somewhat the edges of the pilot photographs. The Baron is what comes to mind - the sharp break between the white background of the edge of the picture and the CGI in that scene looks a little awkward. But that's only a very minor point. Well done! It's really good and I can't wait to see the next one! Cheers - Argy
So the Thunderhawk would come screaming out of the sky at mach ohmygod! and as soon as the struts hit the ground they would rip off. You're trying to apply scientific principles to 40k. Do you not see the problem with that?

I have a sneaking suspicion it's from a forum member from Rise of Flight - Just joined with a random number as a name tag.. As for the blurred edges- That would have been cool - Definitely something I'll try for the next one. But to be honest, I'm new to the whole movie thing and I'm not familiar with the Sony Vegas yet - there's probably loads I can do but just don't realise yet! It took me forever to work out how to position the photos to one side of the screen! Anyway, nice to get constructive critiques - Such a better class of posters here on SimHQ than YouTube!
