Hi guys,
my freakin' installer just hangs at 100% and then disappears.
Has anyone been able to install Comanche4 on a windows7 64bit system?
Thanks for any ideas.
Jaeger.

Have you tried a compatibility mode on the 'setup.exe' file?

Thanks for the response Flyboy, I've tried every compat' mode, copy to desktop and,
other stuff that i could think of. I think the installer doesn't like the 64bit
environment.

I even tried copying the folder over from my XP-Pro computer: that greyed out the missions tab. Anyway, i'll keep trying and post back a result when/if i get it done.

P.S. I will eventually try WIN-XP Virtual mode as i have that installed.

Have you ever played the older Comanche Gold? It's more realistic than Comanche 4, and can be played through a virtual PC (not as daunting as it sounds) on Windows 7!

As a matter of fact i do own Comanche Gold. I am currently running a B-727 cbt on win-xp mode in virtual pc on windows7. I do have sound in win-xp mode but, also some static and i was trying to avoid using win-xp mode to run comanche4.

I'll dig out my Gold cd some time later this week and try to get it installed. If i remember correctly
there was a way to increase the resolution in Comanche Gold.

Thanks again.

I installed Comanche 4 a while ago on 64-bit Win 7 Ultimate.

As long as the game is patched to the latest version it should run fine. I don't think I had to put it in any compatibility mode......I have UAC turned off too.

You are correct, and I found a way to make the once dodgy hex-editing procedure to enable higher resolutions obsolete.

Read the article on that mod and get the download at my site here:

Thanks a lot gents. One thing i found kind of funny when i played Gold
was the trajectory of the hellfire missile.
I did enjoy the game. I will definately install and patch as soon as i can get to it.

Paradaz, my installer would just exit. I'll try again later and just wait for it to hopefuly start the actual installation.

I was having trouble getting C4 to install but a good cleaning of the disk fixed it.

Runs fine here on Win7 64bit.

Guy's thanks for the suggestions. Real life has me doing things a little slower now. So it took me a while to reply. I do have a win98se box i built a while back but, it's nice to just run one box at a time.

Flyboy re "funny" in CG the hellfire missiles' trajectory looked odd to my real worl recollection.

Anyway thanks a lot gents.

You started this thread with your failed attempt to install Comanche 4. Some kinda way, you managed to segue to comanche gold, and end it on comache gold, for some reason. So, does Comanche 4 work, or not?
