Save the date. If you are interested in attending, post here ASAP, as I would like to make final arrangements. When: August 28th, noonish. Where: 49° 2'8.29"N 123° 5'30.16"W aka the F440 track in Tsawwassen, BC, Canada ( http://www.f440.com) What: Kart rentals, and a BBQ (bring your own food/drink) After: Our discretion. Pub, more karting, or maybe retire south of the border to Point Roberts, WA, to experience the delights of the good ol' US of A. Bad Weather Alternative: Indoor karting at TBC Indoor Karting ( http://www.tbcir.ca/) which lacks a BBQ, and is not as good. Just lay of the rain dances in August, people. Who so far: James McKenzie-Smith Tom Colfield Snapdad2112 Rick.50cal (if he would empty out his bloody message box) Last time we all met, it was pretty fun, we raced indoor karts and sat at the end of a runway and watched 747s land. This time, the karts are outdoors, and rather faster; good drivers can possibly qualify to rent full-on two-stroke race karts that go at crazy speed. Come one, come all. Leave your SimHQ quarrels at home, or show each other who is boss on the track. Let's have some fun!

Sounds great, little too far from Tucson though...
This time we'll be expecting pics!
Have fun you crazy guys.

Sounds good!
BTW: I have a BBQ and truck to transport it easily. Its a quality portable unit, but uses the full 20lb tank, and large enough to handle probably more than 6 large steaks at the same time.
PS: James, which "message box" are you trying to contact me with? I cleared out my SimHQ PM box a few weeks ago, was it an email address and which one?

If we could get the title of this post changed to read "Celebrating UTR's Birthday" I would appreciate it.

Surely you cannot have cleared your SimHQ message box out that long ago, Rick! Anyway, re. the BBQ, there is one at the track that we can use, and use free, along with the viewing balcony. It should be big enough, given that response to this has been rather underwhelming. Of course, you could bring yours along, if you want your own private and exclusive BBQ.
They have replaced the basic karts at the track, btw, and they look rather better than the previous lot. I will also call ahead and make sure that there are a couple of four stroke racers and a two stroke for the day.

Cool!
Yea, after you mentioned the message box being full the last time, maybe a moth ago? I cleared out 90% of the messages. So when you try PM'ing me it tells you its full or something?

given that response to this has been rather underwhelming. That's why I wished you all good luck. Been there done that now twice. Lookin' forward to the next SO CAL SimHQ BBQ.

Wish I could but I will be in New Mexico trying to find Robert Oppenheimers old cabin in the mountains with my new to me KTM 950 Adventure. Had lots of fun meeting you lot ... next time. Well, that sounds like a stupid time and boring and dumb and not fun and stuff. (Got a sidecar for that thing?)

Would mid-September work for everyone?
Was kinda looking forward to this, after a very hectic summer!

Might be tough during that timeframe. My son does fall ball during that time, we will have to see.
