So 777 now owns RoF?
Well, best of luck to you Jason and crew. We all know how dedicated you are to this project.
I hope the guys at NeoQB will still be involved. Or if they are moving on to a new game, I hope it turns out as nice as RoF has.
I certainly hope this doesn't mean they are out of a job? That would be a shame, because it is clear they are very talented.

Tailflamer,

No, no one has been laid off as a result of this, for the lack of a better term, merger. The team is still in place as it has been for months. All dev. teams go through changes over time, but there has not been any shake-up due to this business move.

I can't reveal much due to confidentiality agreements with neoqb, but yes, 777 owns all ROF assets now and we don't plan any changes to current operations or plans. We only hope to take ROF and this engine to new heights in the future.

An official statement will be made soon, but please no one worry ROF is not going anywhere. It was just time to let the cat out fo the bag. This has been in the works for months.

Will the development team be still in place, but under the direction of 777 Studios? There is still a lot of development needed, and hopefully many more planes.

Ah, excellent. RoF has many years to go of change and improvement, I hope. Perhaps with this change in ownership, future plans for the game will be better communicated. Maybe a new website too?

If you are talking about the addition of multi-crew/engine planes and new Career mode, yes that is still happening. But I would not call that A LOT of work considering what has already been done. That can be considered A LOT of work. ROF is now a pretty darn solid title and engine. The attitude that it is somehow broken is just not accurate anymore.

Current development is in Moscow as before, maybe in the future we will have another team in a different location. There are no plans to change what already works.

Sorry it does not have years to go. That may be your opinion, but that is not ours.

Also, current plans have already been communicated by the team and myself. Whatever communication break down you are referring to no longer exists and hasn't existed for quite a while. We will continue to inform our users and potential users of our plans when appropriate.

Glad to hear about it myself, Jason!

I think this change is good; having a businessperson/simmer at the helm will keep things running more smoothly. I've gotten the impression that neoqb's folks had an engineer mindset, bless 'em, and while brilliant at what they do, marketing and implementing business changes is (understandably) not an engineer's forte thumbsup

It's nice to see you subscribe to the proven maxim 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Too many people with more IQ than good sense have not figured this out!

Word is getting out about ICE...there's been some discussion over at the Aerosoft forums about it, so naturally I had to stick my nose in:

Love. You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I think this is good news for all around!
Good for Neoqb!
Good for 777 studios!

However, I must address the elephant in the room:

Ahem.
Jason, as president of 777 studios, and now RoF, we cannot have you flying around the virtual skies of RoF and using target icons! Unacceptable!
Full real, and props to the wind sir!

biggrin

Having met Jason in person, I can vouch for his passion and commitment to bringing the best product possible to market. ROF is certainly in good hands with 777 in charge.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate the well wishes. The team are the real heroes. They kick serious ass in a seriously fast manner and never gave up. I'm the priveledged one to be working with them.

Laser - I need to get with you now that E3 is over. Sorry for the delay. I'll send an email.

All types show up at E3 and only one kid was able to shoot anything down. I tried to convey that the difficulty settings could be adjusted. It did draw quite a bit of attention when people walked by and it is so clear that sims still impress people when shown.

I put the Camel through it's paces for three says as it is my favorite bird and even standing up I was able to kill some red painted DR.1s! No crashes and no stutters the whole show on Win 7. Was fun. Just wish we had a more comfortable set up.

What's also exciting is that the engine can now be used for other sims...the engine is the BIGGEST portion of the work....so getting other sims to use the already made engine is the gravy.

The best part is that we'll be able to fly next generation sims using the RoF engine!
Though, RoF is my favorite time period for flight.
a really fun pacific theater game might get me interested.... smile
