All of a sudden I've started having this weird graphics issue and I don't know how to get rid of it. The only thing I've done is install a couple of older games and thus had DX9 reinstalled. But I've tried reinstalling the version from the RoF DVD, I've restored my system to a date before the game installs and it's still there! I've played with my AA/AF settings and nothing will make these blocks disappear now. This is what I see if I get wounded now: Any ideas what I can do to get rid of them? Thanks.

Hey, I've got that card! Do me a favor - go into the nVidia control panel and select "Do not use multi-GPU mode" and then run the sim again. I say "favor" as I had the same issue and cleaned it up, but since I also changed like a thousand other settings (sound, etc.) I'm not sure if that was the magic bullet or not. The whole "SLI on the same card" thing might not be any better than "SLI with two cards," I'm afraid.

Thanks for the reply Dart. I'll give it a shot when I get a chance later but am curious as to how that might help. I say that because I haven't changed any settings related to this game, in-game or within NCP, and this just popped up. Seeing I installed a couple of older games about 4-5 days ago and one of them installed some older DX9 files I just figured that must be it. But reinstalling DX9 and going back to an earlier restore point did nothing to help it. So if I didn't chance my settings and the game hasn't updated (I've only played offline mode for quite awhile now) how would this make a difference? This is just my brain trying to wrap my head around how and why this happened...

Same thing for me; in getting everything on my new system, I started with the Big Three (IL-2, Black Shark, RoF) and they ran with nary a glitch. After installing a bunch of other games (with their own DX flavors) it popped up.
I don't know why it cleared things up for me.
Like you, I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, DirectX, etc. without any relief. However, in running games it tended to re-apply custom DirectX .dll's.
I suspect one of my games custom tailored one of the DX9 .dll's and used the same name as the one it altered, and DX setup isn't over-writing it (the reason I write that is DX has that blurb about checking to see what needs updating/adding), and Windows is getting spoofed by it.

I think you're spot on there Dart. That's been my suspicion all through this process. Makes me want to look for those .dlls and just delete them all and then reinstall the latest DX version again. I say this as I'm under the (false maybe?) hope that the pseudo SLI thing is actually benefiting me more than if I just ran a single card. Seeing as things run pretty darn smooth I've never bothered benchmarking or testing various settings like I've done in days go by with the old venerable BlackDeath track from IL-2.

Finally had time during lunch to test your suggestion. Took a little while as I was in my trusty DR1 and got thrown 3 Nieuports (2 17s and 1 28) and I just couldn't let myself be shot up much less shot down by the likes of those... So then a SE5 came along and after I ran out of ammo on him I allowed him to wound me and nope, it's still there. I tried AFR 1 & 2 and Single GPU and it's all the same. Next idea? Any other graphics gurus care to throw in their .02? Thanks.

Is it looks like or you turned off an posteffects? Can you turn the back on and check what happens? Hi VikS, yes, I turned off post effects. I did this quite awhile ago and had no issue until just the past 4-5 days ago though. I'll turn them back on and see what happens. Thanks for the reply!

Okay, I just turned Post Effects back on (which I don't like as I have no AA or AF ) and it made no difference. Same blocky textures when getting wounded.

Then it's gotta be a fubared graphic somewhere. 1. Back up your controller profiles. 2. Time to use the "Recovery" option at the "Stay tuned" splash page. The most current nVidia drivers - 197.49, which I'm using - may not be the answer, though, as they might be responsible for the multi-GPU cloud flicker. Have you tried greasing your RAM?

LOL Dart! I just came back here to say what I last tried that actually fixed it and you just suggested it! I did the Recovery thing and after putting all my settings back to the way they were no more blocks!!!! After feeling frustrated as hell and stumped a bit I decided why not, and went off and bought myself a new plane. Bought the Fokker D.VIIF and then did the recovery and tested with that plane. Who knows, maybe it was actually the plane purchase that fixed everything... to you and VikS for helping me troubleshoot this one. S!

Just a guess here but are you running mods on with the blood mod. Blood mod? Didn't even know there was such a thing. And no to even having Mods on in the first place. But thanks for trying! I'm back to my blissful visuals.

Forgot to comment on some of your points in my excitement of solving this issue. Then it's gotta be a fubared graphic somewhere.
1. Back up your controller profiles. Actually, I didn't back mine up and they weren't deleted. The startup.cfg file does get changed though so that's a good one to back up. No, I didn't do it... 2. Time to use the "Recovery" option at the "Stay tuned" splash page. I used the Recovery function in the Updater for the same thing. More than one way to do this. If you don't remember your password no need to worry as they will email it to you upon request from the logon screen. The most current nVidia drivers - 197.49, which I'm using - may not be the answer, though, as they might be responsible for the multi-GPU cloud flicker. I haven't bothered updating the video drivers yet as everything is working great that I play and use. However, I've had that cloud flicker on every version of drivers I have tried so it's not the latest ones. Though the ones I'm using now don't do it as much as I've seen in other versions. Of course YMMV. Have you tried greasing your RAM? Noooo, but I'll keep it in mind for the future. Thanks!

Hi Don't know if it will help and I am using a GTX 285. But the 182.50 has giving me the best results across the board of any I have tried. I have run into a few issues here and there with the newer ones. Might be worth a shot. Win7 x64 users can use the Vista x64 version (they do not have that driver listed for Win7, since it was released before Win7 was). It works perfectly fine with Win7 x64 though

Thanks TailFlamer, I guess you missed the post where I got it fixed. Just had to do the in-game Recovery thing and all is good again!
