In the continuing saga of my return to AF f4, the game works fine in windows mode. However, for some reason, now the game has a problem in full screen mode. I get a black screen and the little airplane cursor and nothing more and have to restart to get back control of the computer. I upgraded my video card to a gt 250 and my LCD to a wide screen 21" and don't know if that is a cause of the problem Before these changes, I used full screen when not using the MFD extraction program by Lighting and windows mode when using the MFD extraction program. Does any one have an idea why I am having this issue in full screen? The LCD native resolution is 1360 x 900 (or something like that).

I have reinstalled directx. looked for FFdshow and switched off FSAA all to no avail. In full screen the game goes black with the little airplane. In windows mode all is fine. If IF I recall correctly, I used the windows mode anyway for MFD so it appears to be a nuisance that I can live with.

yes. I plan on putting the mfd extractor stuff on the small one and running AF on the big one. I tried to run AF on the little one on full screen and no joy.

Icarus1 You may be on to something. Today even windows mode would not work. see below:
I can run AF in windows mode only if I disable my left small monitor and run AF in my right large monitor. When I try to run both, I get the black screen.
One interesting thing I have noted is that windows says my primary monitor is identified as #2 and my secondary monitor is identified as #1. Of course when I just run my main monitor and disable my secondary monitor, all is fine, but then I could not run MFDE.
The problem is my main monitor uses a vga and my secondary monitor uses another type of connector (DVI) so I cannot just switch cables. I would have to buy some converters for the ports if this is the problem. I just don't know. However, it appears that AF is lost when it tries to figure out where to go. Am I on to something?
NEW PARAGRAPH
It is definitely time to see a head doctor. When AF would not run in windows mode with both monitors on, I shut down the computer and booted up with only one monitor connected, shut down, connected both monitors again and rebooted. Now windows is reporting that the big monitor is ID #1 and the little monitor is ID #2 and AF will now run in windows mode.
I guess when the big monitor was labeled ID2 even though it was the primary monitor windows and AF just got confused.
I am too tired to see if full screen now works.
Icarus1 I owe you a thanks for giving me the idea.

The secret to the monitor ID number order in windows appears to be the order that windows detects the monitors so I simply turn on the big monitor first and when everything is up, I turn on the little monitor and the ID numbers are 1 for the big and 2 for the little monitor and the game works fine.
