my new toy, Audi S3 , 188 KW ( 252 BHP), Quatro 4 wheel drive, 6 speed DSG gearbox, just took it for 350 km roundtrip, smooth as silk yet blistering when you want it to be.

came with some brilliant integrated technology with sat nav/ bluetooth and digital music interface ( SD cards and i-pods)through BOSE sound system. First time I have experienced such technology

Nice!

Get some stiffer rear swaybars to help with the inherent understeer smile.

Great stuff, shame that no doubt most the yanks on this board wouldnt know a real car if it came up and bit them on the arse.

tongue in cheek, sorry still dont consider automatics real cars, push and go toys

G'day dig,
Do you find any hesitation with the DSG from a standstill (think quick right turn between traffic)? Have a golf Mk6 with DSG, the hesitation can do my head in if I let it.

had a DDSG with my gulf GTI and my wife had a DSG in her Audi. The Audi software always seems to get it right. I know what you mean about the Golf. feels like its about to stall.

The marrying of the gearbox, 4 wheel drive and Audi's engineering makes for a great experience. Interestingly it has so much torque that I overtook going up a hill , the gearbox stayed in 6th gear even though only doing 2500 RPM.

To RS , i got it new, saw it in the showroom and "fell in love". I love the wheels as they are titanium colour so european brakedust wont show up as much.

We ended up trading in my wifes 3 year old Audi, and ill still use the Golf GTI as a runaround during the week ( my wife who can park in a secure car park at her work gets it during the week) and I'll use it on weekends.

My work drive consists of sitting in traffic jams all the way to work so more sensible this way

Digger,

when you grow up you can get an A6 wink

Naw, that is a nice car. You have to give it to Audi, they do make nice vehicles.

So tell me, how do you find the sat nav? Is it fast? Finds everywhere you want to go? Have on the fly route planning? Oh, do you also have the hard drive unit? If so, any good?

Ive got an A6 Avant on order...just have to wait for September for it to get here!!! Until it does get here Ill be looking at Audi pr0n every night! biggrin

Regards

Mailman

Super nice ride, digger! Excellent color choice too, I don't know what it is about the newer car models, but they all seem to look real good in primary colors. I also like the Audi sport wheel rims, they look good in gray or black. I'll be in the market for a new car soon, and Audi is definitely one of the car makers I'm considering. It's hard not to enjoy the ride in such a cool little car, have fun with it and try not to get any speeding tickets. burnout

Sat nav is HD, console mounted. My wife and I need to give "her" a name as has a very posh english accent which makes us laugh as true aussies ( although i came from england when i was 12 and my wife from italy when she was 3 - thats what makes australia great, we are all from somewhere else, every corner of the world).

Back on topic, the instrument panel also has a smaller screen which integrates with the larger sat nav screen so you can see what is coming in increments of 100 metres, very cool feature, so dont need to hear her( the sat nav, not my wife lol) or take eyes off the road.

In the showroom was also an Audi TT RS in white with a huge rear spolier, evil looking and an Audi S5. Too big as far as im concerned, prefer hot hatches or sports.

Interestingly whilst its lowered ( standard for S3) and on 18 inch wheels, the ride was smoother and quieter than our Golf GTI. I think Audi is getting BMW and Mercedes measure.

The average aussie still loves his v6 and v8 though but not sure for how much longer

I think the new S-Line TT looks stellar in Ibis White.
