For those that like WoW (unlike me) Runes of MagicFriends of mine love that thing, no need to buy the optional items. Dark Wind"Darkwind is a turn-based, 3D persistent-world multiplayer wargame set in the near future, which combines the depth of detail inherent in turn-based games, with long-term strategic elements that keep the challenge going for months/years." Didn't get into that one either, but it's free.

An added description of the game would be nice, if you could post your thoughts on the game, that would be even better! Thanks for the links... now I gotta figure out how to get more than 24 hours in one day...

Their website was down when I checked, but Free Colonization is an awesome game. Its like Civilization only focusing more on economy and eventually freeing yourself from your parent empire. Its a good light civ game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeCol

Whew, that was long. http://megamek.sourceforge.net/ Haven't tried it yet, but that looks a bit like a turn based hex game we played on Amiga back in '89 in college. You'd "roll" up a pilot, you could build custom mechs within weight/power limits, create maps, burn down forests, stand in water for cooling...brilliant. Hope this is like that game was, I've never found it for myself again.

It's amazing how good it is now, IIRC it's more than 10 years in development now and they sure have come a LONG way!

http://www.tagap.net/index.htmlThe Apocalyptic Game About Penguins! A platformer-shooter game where you play a penguin who is out to stop Dr. Glowenko and his horde of zombie penguins. Yes, zombie penguins. Quite similar in game mechanic to a game called Abuse that came out a decade ago, and quite fun, unlike Abuse, which was... hard..

I used to have the tabletop version with the plastic miniature mechs instead of cardboard standups. I have not been able to find that game since and this will take care of it. As for the one link asking about the list of free games I would recommend Full Spectrum Warrior. I always loved that game.
