think it has anything to do with CoD:MW2 releasing a map pack on the same day, lol...

thx to worthplaying.com for the news:

'Battlefield: Bad Company 2' (ALL) Second Map Pack Coming March 30
by Rainier on March 11, 2010 @ 10:20 a.m. PST | Filed under News
The Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The action unfolds with unprecedented intensity, introducing a level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. Having released the first new content at launch, DICE revealed that original owners of the game will be able to unlock two new maps for free on March 30, 2010.

Smart move! That's got to be why they bumped it up, in the store in the game it's been listed at 4/1 to come out. 3/30 sounds better to me anyway.
I do wish they were actually NEW maps instead of just adding Rush to a Conquest map and Conquest to a Rush map. Maybe they'll add to the area some, but I doubt it. At least we don't have to pay for it.

I was thinking that sounded super fast for an add-on, although if it is like posted above and just adding different game types to existing maps I wouldn't think it would take too long to do.

I agree, at least we don't have to pay for it. I'm sure they'll come out with new maps soon enough. I'd like to see them convert some battlefield 2 maps to this. A little nastalgia with a destructible environment would be good.

I'd like to see a re-make of Strike At Karkand. That was my favorite map from BF2.

I am so not a fan of the MP on this BC2 series. The first one was okay, but I just hate the running across a map and getting killed by one shot on the run... My brother tells me I need to rank up to make it fun but I'm not sure I'll have the patience.

The SP I really like and I think this will be a quick trade in after I finish the campaign...

Ya some battlefield2 maps would be great to see, man I ate that stuff up.

I make my advancement to the action an excercise of using cover, this been very successful for me, and taking my time gives me a lot of oppornuity kills.

Of course a squad poop can put right there as well

Don't let it discourage you. I didn't like the MP either, at first. It takes awhile to grow on you and you do need to rank up for some better weapons. But, it's worth it.

The best part of this game is the MP. It just takes some time. You can't go all Rambo in this like you can other games. You really need to be part of a squad and use team tactics to make the most of it.

Or just grab a jeep and drive it like Bo & Luke Duke into the flag area. Die getting the cap points and relish your spot at the top of the leader boards.

I'm finding hardcore damage:hit points ratio to be incredibly satisfying. One of the best game set ups I've seen in a very long time. Games that require you to gauge distance to get a solid hit are always nice. If it doesn't take much to drop you, it doesn't take much to drop the other guy either.

You can't play the game quite as fast paced as previous games, at least in hardcore mode. Work your way more slowly pick a path and try to stay out of the line of fire. Without the indicators, you can play the game a little bit more realistically (by comparison with other BF games). Makes it a lot more satisfying. Once you learn the maps, you know where you're most vulnerable and can begin to move faster.

Weapon balance is very good. In fact, my favorites are just middle range of all the guns in their classes.

so after about 6 hrs of play yesterday with my brother and moving up 2 ranks, Private 3 the game starts to be a little more fun. Like here and my brother also mentioned, you need to get some weapons to start being able to kill to have some fun.

But the F&#@&*! spawn killing made me almost snap the game in half. We were playing the winter map with the oil pipes and the other team just ran aroun the roadside and parked 3-4 guys behind the fence where we would respawn and kept killing us. That's such FBS that you don't get some area to rejoin without having a team spawn kill like that.

Plus I hate the fact that it's still so much "on your own" where you can't hear anyone else on your team like you can in MW2. They need to have a coms connection like that, not just who you join as a squad with.

Good news! I'm really enjoying BFBC2 (but then I've enjoyed its forebears on the PC and Xbox 360).

I presume the new maps are free to those who bought the 'limited edition?'

^ TG, that's why I try to spawn on an idividual rather than a post, usually a sniper so I can assault-support him with ammo.

btw: what rank do you need for ceramic armor? It appears to be unlocked for me (currently at level 13 SSgt) but not assignable.

I just got this for the ps3 and its great fun , after playing mw2 its definitely a learning curve!

Snipers arent lasers anymore and the fact that you can be revived or spawn on a squadmate is cool ( that sounded weird)

I play with Top Gun and his brother with regularity. Its fun when you get on a team with people who you know and play it right.
It has definitely replaced MW2 as the top shooter in my book. Good fun.

I heard that! Every night since release I've been in a group of friends in there (on 360 though). We run a party chat on Live so we have 8 communicating together across 2 squads. With 8 sets of eyes, you know where about all of the enemy targets are. The game works VERY well to let you get on the same team and squads together. Last night we ended up with a full 12 man team. I just wish we could have 12 on party chat. The game is amazing, and playing hardcore with everyone communicating makes for one of the best MP experiences I've had in a very long time.

I've finally transitioned to hard core and it seems folks are more teamwork inclined. When you know you're one shot from virtual death it helps to instill proper tactics. wink

Yep, Hardcore is definitly a better mode when it comes to gameplay, but the problem with hardcore is they take away all the tools for teamwork... so really not liking it now... wish we could have the hardcore gunplay but keep the teamwork stuff like ID targets etc etc.

The maps are unlocked! Nothing to download, it's just server side it seems.
Conquest on africa harbor is NICE. A lot of snipers, but it's all infantry, no vehicles. Starts at the first base from Rush and runs down to the train tracks over that waterway. Not easy, but it's a nice change. Like White Pass but more open.

It sucks I'm probably not gonna be able to get on until at least Sunday night. I'm stuck in North Carolina right now, then I got Easter with the in laws. I am looking forward to trying the new maps with new modes. I like the harbor map alot, and I'll snipe on it from time to time, but assault is still my bag. Need to work on the other modes. I feel like I'm getting left behind because I never have time to play. I need to get rid of hobbies like working.

Be careful what you wish for. I got laid off 3 weeks ago. It's no picnic in this job market. This is the 3rd time in the last 8 months that I've lost my job.

Sure, I have lots of free time for gaming but all in all I'd rather be working. Or winning the lottery! LOL!
