......BadBud is back flying and killing those nasty huns while trying to ignore the checkerboard ground effect since patch. Got so iritated that I gave RoF up for awhile, but couldn't stay pissed for long and am now back to enjoying the fight again. I just (for now) don't start a mission on the ground, land or crash(LOL). And it looks good........except for the color that sometimes gets messed a little on the AI planes. Might even buy the new Fokker now that I have tempered my feelings about the patched bad graphics. (I know that my PC specs are below the minimum for RoF). Hope that the rest of you sim pilots having the checkerboad effect have gotten beyond it and are back to enjoying the fight again. I am still holding out hope that future patches might fix the problem. They do listen to us. BadBud www.simflite.com

I care, BadBud. And I'm trying to fly through it, too. Nevertheless, it irks me whenever I look at some of the beautiful screenshots that I took pre-1.011 patch with the gorgeous landscape WITHOUT the checkerboard effect. See below: As compared to now: And, of course, you gotta LOVE the new shimmering effect on the lozenge-camo DVII (as well as all of the other planes, but this one just happens to be the worst IMHO): Minimum specs be dashed! They've added something with this patch that's causing this. I wish they'd fix it, too...but I doubt they will. Our cards are below spec, and I'm still waiting on a response to my post over at the neoqb forum. Who knows, though...they might. They've been good to us so far, right? Regardless, I'm still gonna look into upgrading my processor to a quad core along with a better graphics card.

As it's you I've elevated your report to the neoqb team Dumbo because that would give me grief. A tidy lawn is one thing but- Ming

Goes to my theory that the least expensive part of a flight simulation is the flight simulation itself. We really are collectively a bunch of big goofballs. We gripe over having to pay less than eight bucks to fly a Nieuport 17 and then spend two hundred on a HOTAS or a video card.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

As it's you A tidy lawn is one thing but- Ming If it was Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium we'd all be oooooohing and aaaahhhhhhhng. That's nasty in the distance. Couple that with the shimmering that some experience and that has to be very difficult on the eyes.

BadBud and Dumbo,
Unfortunately, your video cards are below minimum spec posted on the box. I've never seen this other than here and in the earlier thread, but my guess is that it is a shader issue of some kind. It was possibly just dumb luck that allowed your systems to run it before the patch. Have you guys compared settings at all? You can also ask neoqb what if anything changed to cause this, but since your cards are below min spec the answer may not be what you want to here.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Jason

Jason,
I don't believe in "dumb luck" when it comes to computers. Particularly when several of us with NVidia series 7 cards have experienced the same thing (see my original "checkerboard" post), in my book that moves this from the "random chance" category to the "something changed" category.
Just my $0.02 is all.

You can also ask neoqb what if anything changed to cause this, I'd like to know myself since I also suffer the issue. MattM explained it well, be nice to hear neoqb give official answer. Alot of folks have posted same issue on their boards and was brushed under. I do have faith in Ming though!

Here are my specs. Great for all my flight sims. Never a RoF problem before patch. Maybe a studder once in awhile with heavy air activity or a little slower gun rat-tat-tat. Do not fly this sim online......just enjoy by myself and trying to enjoy again. Turned out to be a good thread. Just my $0.02 is all. By "dumb luck" I mean they did not purposely support your card in the beginning, so the fact that it did work was lucky. That's all I meant. Yes, obviously something changed, but did they know it would affect you folks with 7000 series cards? My guess is probably not. Jason

Why I'm particularly interested in helping you Dumbo at this point is because I know that neoqb are tireless in improving the graphics rendering to speed up framerate for most people. You might just have got caught up in an update and it's worth asking neoqb directly about this in case it's not just the minimum spec thing. If it worked once then maybe it can again is my thinking, can't hurt to ask for the devs help, lots of people on cards like yours But graphics cards are getting cheaper by the day so keep an eye out for bargains shader issuePerhaps yes and if that's so then there can be fallbacks to earlier shader models and let's hope before not too long if that's the case. Kit can't work and then stop working after an automatically-imposed patch, I don't care what it says on the box. A lot of folks have posted same issue on their boards and was brushed underNo I don't believe that's true, the people may have posted as you say but the neoqb team does not do brushing under and the developers have even asked for PMs to them directly when people are encountering difficulty. Language difficulties do not help of course. Some people are having trouble which they've reported along with clear images of the problem, and that's when possible-bugs can be squashed Ming

Yes, obviously something changed, but did they know it would affect you folks with 7000 series cards? My guess is probably not. I have to agree with this statement. Obviously, since the 8800 card is the minimum spec, I don't expect neoqb to test for/worry about possible impact on cards that don't meet this spec. That wouldn't be fair. I'm just venting is all.
