The A dnd D are both called "Apache". Longbow is just the name of the radar. Therefore if you have a D-model with no radar, it's not a Longbow, it's just an Apache.

Still trying to figure out if "Longbow" is copyright or trademarked in any way. We might have to drop using "Longbow" in the title.

Still, it's better than what we used to call it, "UHP - Unnamed Helicopter Project".

The first Longbow I saw in the flesh belonged to Norway Sweden France Germany Transylvania Netherlands (cheer), it was one of the 64Ds attached to Topless's unit (he used to frequent this board). The government at the time were still debating about purchasing the radar add-on. It was an extra $15 million back then.

Huh? Norway don't have any Apaches, Longbow or not. Or even any armed helicopters at all. And as far as I know Norway has never considered buying any either.

Or was the Longbow radar being considered for some other use than on an Apache? Or was it the Longbow Hellfire missile? I know Norway has some Hellfires (used from coastal defense and from ships, I believe).

As far as I know Sweden has never used Longbow's either. The closest country to use them would be the Netherlands.

That's the one, thank you. My only excuse is that it was nearly ten years ago.

No, but they did consider buying attack helicopters at one point, and did have a fly-off involving Apaches and Mi-28s. But didn't end up buying anything. And that was back in the day when the AH-64A was hot.
