Flexman said that is fairly easy to add terrains into the sim. I will like to propose a Target Range terrain as the first non-Afghan terrain, it should be easy as there's nothing needed there apart from a flat map (representing the ares the US helo pilots train with weapons), a take off and landing point so we can train this and some markings in the ground like the real target ranges.
Of course some different targets will be needed too, of diferent classes, tanks, APC, IFV, buildings etc.
I'm requesting such a map cause is always good to have a flat map to train at the beggining thins like basic flight, navigation, emergency maneuvers and landings without being distracted by valleys, towns, trees...
About the enemy targets the same as before for learn to use the weapons in a easy envinroment, specially If we want to fly in multiplayer so we can tune our tactics.
Hope this can be a reality one day.

Gravy alert!

It's easy to add maps, but they do take time to design and dress. We discussed it and decided such a facility would be useful for testing code and weapons performance. If you'd like to submit drawings, concept of such a range for reference we'll look into it.

Well a target range is normally a flat area so pilots and gunners can concentrate on targets and weapon usage, being flat the crew doesn't have to look for mountains or valleys. Is also clear of most of the trees if not all, and on the ground are big lines marking distances to targets that are normally placed at the end of the line. I can't post pics of the real ranges as those are military secure areas, but we use a target range terrain in Strike Fightes that is inspired in the real deal.

This is how a range look:

And the explanation:

There are plenty of different targets so pilots and gunners can train, targets like ¿"targets"?

Buildings:

Vehicles in convoy:

SAM sites:

Hidden vehicles:

Simulated airfields:

And bomb targets:

The targets ranges in Sims can help the users to learn the basics, weapon useage, weapon usage...
I feel that they are very very useful, it should be easy to do as is a flat map with not too many objects.
Another idea is to have a FARP near the target so at same time we practice landings and take offs, we can get the chopper rearmed so more time to train before reloading the target range mission.
Just my two cents.

The mystery of the Nasca lines is revealed.

Thanks for taking time putting those together, they're quite useful. I will look into it, an instant action shooting range sounds like a low-rent feature with good end-user value. Pretty much a formalised version of what I'm doing with my test maps.

Terrain and manual are from Deuces, good you can take in consideration but please add the hability to take off and land If the user is interested, will be a good place to train taking offs, landings, autorotations...

Great end-user value, imo. One can spend a few hours practicing and screwing things up without worrying about terrain, enemies, etc.. I use the Free Flight ability of EECH (still trying to get my hands on a cheap copy of LB2) to get used to systems and procedures as well as target-hunting practice.

TBH I don't think this is gravy but rather a very useful tool for any user.
