Here a news post and the original blog detailing the DRM for BFBC2 PC. Sounds reasonable to me, especially in the light of ubisoft's idea (...I hope it's not a repost).

Where the ocean meets the sky
Hello,

thanks for posting this here - this is undoubtably a good idea. I only think that UBIsoft will not like it, because they want to introduce their pay-per-play method sooner or later, like in "World of Warcraft" - and this only works with being online (not that there may not be other methods, like sending info now and then on how long you played, even offline ...).
I highly mistrust UBI for their DRM model being an "anti-piracy" measure.

Thanks and greetings,
Catfish

This is a DRM I could put up with; refreshing to find a publisher taking on the concerns of the buying public and addressing them. Shame on the others, "RoF" for example has offered a half baked barely adequate solution, they tried I guess, but the compromise wasn't quite the 'come in the water's lovely' gesture most potential buyers would be tempted by.

Regards Mort
