I saw this little gem on a TV program some years ago:
Some people pretended to enter a lotto pool and gave an unwitting friend a filled out ticket- they had taped a previous drawing for millions for the matching numbers on the ticket and played the tape as if it were happening in real time. Of course, the mark began celebrating in hysteria once she thought she had won. They had a real difficult time convincing her it was a practical joke, she went on for some time thinking they were pulling her leg about only kidding.
No one gets out of here alive.

One of my brothers was the prankster of the family, always making crank calls and stuff to other family members and suckering us in on other pranks, so one year I decided to get him back.
At the time our parents still lived in the same house we grew up in, so I decided to send a birthday card to that address with his name on it, thinking anyone from his past would be more likely to know that than his current address. I forwarded it to a friend in another city and asked them to send it from there so that he wouldn't immediately connect the card to me by the postmark, since I was the only one in the family who moved away. I also asked for a made-up return address, so that no one would get a call or knock on the door from my family.
See, he was a bit of a player and general trouble-maker in his youth, so I sent the card to him as if it were from a daughter he didn't know he had (asking a female friend to fill it out for me). My plan was to time it so I called the day it arrived and let everyone know about the joke, but not to spill the beans before it got there so the impact wouldn't be spoiled.
So, I called several times, asking if anything was new with my brother, and no one said anything, so I assumed it hadn't arrived. Turns out it had, but everyone had decided not to talk about it until they had more info. He was married with three kids at the time, and to his credit took the card immediately to his wife, and unbeknown to me hired a private detective in the city it was postmarked from to see if they could track down the sender. I felt really bad for upsetting his wife, and I reimbursed them for the P.I. charges and wrote his wife an apology letter, but everyone else felt he pretty much deserved it from all the other stuff he used to pull.

Wheels Did you hear his voice when he asked "wha...what do you mean?" I laughed at the whole thing, but I felt bad for the guy.

This one immediately sprung to mind: For those of you who don't know Kenny vs, Spenny, it is a reality TV show about two Canadians, Kenny and Spenny, close friends who challenge each other in odd competitions. The loser will suffer through some form of humiliation, determined by the winner. This particular compeition is "Who is funnier?". It is the definition of mean. Also, it is most assuredly NSFW: Kenny vs. Spenny: "Who is funnier?"
"crisis" is my middle name...

I think the worst thing we ever did to someone was Saran-Wrapping their car. I worked in a grocery store and we had these four-foot wide plastic wrap sheeting in a roll that we used to wrap crushed-up, compacted cardboard boxes.
We used an entire roll. Took him about a half-hour to cut his way into his car.

My old boss flew to Vegas with her husband, leaving their recent college graduate, new entry into the workforce son and dog at home alone. On the way back, their jet had a freak problem and lost all of its engines over the rockies. The pilot came over the PA, explained thta things did not look good, he was gonna try his best but, they should "prepare themselves..." Can you imagine?!?!?! The passengers immediatly went hysterical.. some people had heart attacks... some had to be restrained. My boss looked at her husband and said "We have to call Pete (son) to lethim know!" Her husband said "No... what are we gonna say? 'Hey pete... we are gonna die... walk the dog!"? She LOSSES IT! She is scared beyond the capacity for rational thought... In the middle of all of this, the pilot somehow gets the engines back and immediatly diverts to the closest field. Emergency ground personel meet he plane to care for the injured. Heart attack victims, mental cases... all of them were brushed asside so that my boss could be taken off first... she was temporariily insane from grief and had to be restrained an sedated... So, she comes in to work and tells su this story. She was always a prankster and this episode did not change her at all. She asked me to call her husband and act like I am a rep from the airline and say something to get him heated. She often relied on me to prank people but, I never had such an unusual reference point to work from... a traumatic, near death experience... So, I called him, identified myself and explained that we were sincerely sorry about the unfortunate incedent. i explaind that under ordinary circumstances, we would offer you a pair of free round trip tickets to anywhere we service but, that there was a report from the flight crew that your wife was hysterical and damaged some seats as she was taken from the plane and that we would be billing them for repairs... this guy let out a string of obscenities not unlike the one described by ralphie in "A Christmas Story" it was HILARIOUS. His wife was literally crying with laughter. I will never forget that
