I'm glad someone posted about this as I've been trying to figure something out. What game was it that you all were playing for a time that was I believe an SAS shooter? From what I can remember of screens you all posted it seemed almost Swat4-like. I tried searching for the game myself but it always brought up this particular game which is apparently not out yet. Sure wish I could remember the name of it. Wondering if it would run on this not so great computer of mine.

That was called The Regiment if I recall correctly. It has a different name here I believe...

They lost me at this quote:

"Switch your M4 rifle from assault to sniper mode anytime during the game."

The Regiment was a completely different game, and pretty intense. SAS: Secure Tomorrow is another one of the cookie-cutter FPS games from City Interactive that are given a tactical veneer, but is in fact a linear shooter with little realism. That said, it is good for a run n' gun stress buster, although the latest Légion étrangère game, Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures, seems a little better.

If you are looking for a realistic tactical shooter, forget any of City Interactive games. For an hour or two of chearp diversion, you could do worse.

Coot, The Regiment was published in the !!USA!! under the name Operation: Hostage Rescue Close Quarter Combat, and available from Amazon for very little.

I thought The Regiment was published in the USA as "Terror Strike".

[Terror Strike] hit Europe in early 2006 under the name of The Regiment

It's terrible. The SAS in the title is almost sacrilegious . This has been out for some time now, why the demo ?

The Regiment was a blast, fast, tactitcal gameplay, brutal action, great hostage-rescue aspect. The game was supported by real-life veterans of the famous Iranian Embassy siege in London, a loose but very playable recreation of which was the centerpiece of the campaign. In other missions you went up against IRA paramilitaries holed up on a farm and skinhead fascists taking over the Houses of Parliament. Coop was very enjoyable, I did many hours of it on Sunday mornings with a pal and we still quote some of the dialogue to each other.

Here is one of the farm missions and here is a mission set in the London Underground with a full, four-man team of humans. You have no idea how hard it was finding four guys to play this.

A hostage would sometimes pee himself if a fierce enough gun battle erupted around him. That's attention to detail. This was an unjustly neglected CQB sim.
