The F-22 Total Air War Forum has been removed due to possible violations in the Forum Use Agreement regarding proprietary code.

That should have been "Thanks for explaining".
Anyway, easy resolution I think. Remove _f22.exe and proprietary DLLs from any all-inclusive mods and you'll still need the full game (although not the CD which was never required anyway).
Or just don't advertise it on SimHQ. --
Mark That's more or less the approach the guys over in EAW have done. I think it's a good compromise.

Wouldn't seem necessary to remove the entire topic of TAW and the DID sims. We still have the Falcon forum, which routinely discuss the illegal but widespread Falcon 4.0 community mods Open Falcon and Free Falcon.
Couldn't you simply ban individuals who violate the rules?

EECH, EEAH, and EAW have had their source code released by their respective developers.

And FreeFalcon and OpenFalcon don't include the entire stand-alone game for free download.

But - the question isn't about the specific illegal/violation. Just a straight one about the entire forum and family of DID sims being dropped, as opposed to banning specific violators. Posing this as a fan of DID sims, and the value of the forum in the past for those sims and fans of them. Not pushing back at Moderators/Admins working to protect SimHQ!
@Doug - yes, understood and agreed.

It wasn't just one post. That would be an simple fix. It was a series of posts, with quoting other posts and so on. It got very entwined, far from even a simple fix. We gave this some thought, but in the end there was nothing else we could do.

Mark, Do you have the time to sort through hundreds of posts and figure out which ones comply and which ones don't? Then edit them down and make them readable? I'm not going to state this again. It was over the top. Not fixable. We discussed this about what to do. I'm not pointing the finger at you, or anyone else here. But done is done.
We're not backing off that.

20mm, thanks for the further explanation. The number of suspect posts themselves, not the simply the persons is your concern.
A few thoughts:
1. As many here know, the forum is (was) the only source for a tremendous amount of irreplaceable know how and advice on all of the D.I.D. sims.
2. The TAW2008 posts would be the ones of concern presumably, and although there are likely a lot of them, they are confined to the period since that software was announced. Everything prior to that should be "clean."
3. Do SimHQ managers have the ability to put the forum back on but with ALL posts/threads since the first appearance of TAW2008 removed? I mean without an enormous amount of time and effort - determining a date and restoring everything prior to that date?
4. If that is possible, your question to Mark could be posed to any and all interested, but at least with the D.I.D forum itself restored even if truncated. Then if you at SimHQ Admin were willing, could assign a month's posts to a volunteer to review and clean - and another month to another person if available. Of course you guys would first require whatever agreement for clarity in what "clean" means and entails. Rather than edit posts, perhaps the safest, simplest way would be to just delete all TAW 2008/v2 posts.
20mm, I haven't admin-ed a forum, so realize that these suggestions might not be anywhere as straight forward or feasible as they seem from the outside. And also that you guys have lots else to be busy with. Some of us are just trying not to lose the knowledge base and community of an entire family of respected and unique sims that have long been a part of SimHQ. Please understand that it's because we care about the sims - not because we want to harass or dispute or dismiss the problem.
