Hi Snuffy, I hope that you don't mind if I disagree with you a bit.

1. In WWI no records were kept for vehicles destroyed, only aircraft. Therefore no record keeping for vehicles.

2. What kind of vehicles were you destroying? I have not yet incorporated any vehicles into RoFCampaign, only static (non-motorized) MGs. MGs are called "vehicles" by the game so that may be it. If you were destroying anything with wheels that doesn't fly then I am not sure that you were playing a mission generated by RoFCampaign.

3. As for KIA, I figure that the player will do as he wishes. If he wants to play dead is dead then he can just start a new career. If not then he can continue on. I could do something to put a bow on it - allow the player to register himself as killed and go to a splash screen, but there is just so much to do that that is not going to make it to the top of the list for awhile. I will make a note of it.

In general, record keeping is an issue. I do not have a mission results file to work with. I have asked for one but I really doubt that I will get it any time soon (if ever). I am trying to work in one of Laser's suggestions for subtitles but that has not worked out yet. If I ever get a real results file I will work immediately to incorporate it. Until that time I just have to muddle along as best as I can.

Patrick,

Thanks for the update reply and a little more information.

1. Guess I'll live with it and put no kills for anything other than aircraft.

2. I have no idea as there were none on the field. Your comment stating that ROF sees MGs as vehicles could well be the case, as we were over the front and shooting into the trenches. I believe beyond doubt though I was flying a campaign generator mission. smile I'll accept the fact that these "vehicles" were MGs as I was being shot at while strifing.

3. Fair enough. Not knowing the mind set of your creation I was just curious if there were plans to add to it or is it considered a finished work with regards to the "paperwork".

Thanks for understanding. Sure wish my installation of Mission Editor worked. I'd like to try my hand at it.

Thanks again.

FiveDigits you are a genius!

Using the command window everything works fine. I have no idea why it fails from the desktop. I now execute a batch file and the program runs fine.
Thanks again and thank you Patrick

Nothing genious about it. Many applications (e.g. compression tools like WinZip and WinRar) grab the file association for .jars from Java. Using Java directly from the command line circumvents the "wrong" file association. wink

Glad it worked for you!

No Snuffy, RoFCampaign isn't finished. In fact my problem is the opposite, there is more in the queue than I can handle in a few weeks.

On the bright side, RoF isn't finished either, so maybe we will both get done at the same time smile.

I'm sorry to continuously ask what I'm sure are stupid questions, but I have a couple more for you.

I "created" a mission using the name of a pilot I created. I flew the mission and managed to shoot down 4 planes. I wandered around on my own for a while and found an airfield on my side of the lines and landed. When I ended the mission, I believe the pilot was identified as UNKNOWN. I did see on the mission readout that I was credited with the four kills. Not sure what the "unkown" deal is all about.
Also, I'm assuming that I have to "create" a new mission every time as it appears if I click on my name without leaving the game and create a new mission, I'll just be flying the same one over again? Do I have to fly to all of the "waypoints" to get credit for the mission and is that what it takes to advance to a "new" mission without creating it externally?

Thanks,

Copterdrvr

since updating to 1.010 i don't see the mission generated by ROF Campaign on the mission screen inside RoF. It's in the Rise of Flight/data/missions folder.
anyone else have this problem?
thanks

after a closer look, it appears that the mission is in the list but not listed under the pilot's name. in place of the pilot's name it has a block of text listing the friendly forces.

Campaign(Fok.Dr1) has a problem with squad mates. They don´t follow me in a descending flight. When´enemy aircrafts are below me and i go down after them my squad mates just stay way high over me.I also saw this problem with other AI flights of Fok.Dr.1 so its not just my flight..
Anyone else?

Now that I got my sim running properly after the 1.010 update, I tried the campaign last night.

Started a new one ... started the game ... found the campaign mission in the missions where it's supposed to be ... started the mission, the loading screen starts and about 1/4 of the way up the loading line, I get kicked back to the mission folder.

I haven't been able to start a campaign mission since 1.010. frown

Guys stay calm. I am sure Patrick will have a solution for all this but it was Christmas and it is still holiday season. So give him a break. Patience is a virtue.

Cheers

Hi all,

My computer bit the dust on Chrismas Eve. I have since recovered to the point where I can get into safe mode with networking and type this message. Unfortunately, I can't do much else as it still does not boot properly (NVidia driver issue - could be the whole card that has gone belly up but I'm not sure).

The good news is that there was no data loss, so all of the code is still there. I back up every release anyway, but I had put several days into getting aces into the game and it would have been a shame to lose that. Fortunately, I didn't.

At any rate, when I am back up and running I will get the latest version of RoF to see what is happening.

+1.

Please let us know when you get the machine guns on the front turned off as to targets, my squadron waste all their bombs and ammo shooting at those things and then when the E/A show up ... we're practically empty and can't put up a good fight.

Besides, the machine guns detract from the actual flight path on occasion. I've sat and watched as my squaddies go straight down the front attacking machine gun locations till they are so far off the flight path that its rediculous, and I end up flying the mission alone.

Oh while I'm here, with regard to the placement of the multiskin, do I put that \data\graphics\xxxxx\xxxx in the directory for the campaign generator, or do I install it in the rof data directory?

Thanks again Patrick.

Quick question-do you have to exit the game every time you complete a mission to generate a new one?

Thanks

Yep, I do.

I think you need to have it re-read the missions folder where you'll add your next mission.

Do you have spaces in the pilot name? I found that using underscores in place of spaces caused the mission to show OK now.
