Hey mates what are the sys reqs for OFF+Expansion? I have a custom built PC with an Intel C2D E6750 CPU, 4GB 800mhz RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD+RW, ATi 4670 1GB Vid Ram, Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

Are my specs enough to get at least 30FPS in OFF? I went to the website and was looking at ordering OFF+Expansion but want to make sure. I also went to GoGamer so I could buy CF3 but all they have is the import CD version. Does OFF+Expansion req the CD after installtion?

Hi Rodster. I should think you would get the performance you are looking for with your rig. No matter what any of our specs are we have all needed to tweak the settings to get our best performance. I am not a pc expert so here is the link for specs http://www.overflandersfields.com/sysreq.htm . The CFS3 dvd is preferred to the cd version but it is in limited supply and it seems to be available from overseas, outside U.S.. You need the CFS3 disk to be in your tray for OFF to operate. I recently bought CFS3 at Best Buy that was updated to 3.1 so you would not need to download the CFS3 update. It comes in a dvd package but is the 2 disc cd for $10. Over Flander's Fields Between Heaven & Hell is the latest and greatest version what with the Hat in the Ring add-on. The developers are very actively pursuing the continuation of OFF either by producing more add-ons and/or a new version of OFF. There are no details for the next OFF and we should not expect it's release for a very long time. Did I say a very long time? I mean so long a time you should not wait for it. IMO, If you look to be immerssed in the WWI airwar you need OFF now. The historical single player campaign is fantastic.!

Actually, what you want is:

1. OFF: Between Heaven and Hell (aka Phase 3)
2. SuperPatch
3. Hat in the Ring

In that order. Don't forget to download the SuperPatch.

To amplify what Plainsman says

First install CFS3 if it is the 2 CD version. Having installed it, you MUST run it once- just run a simple dogfight mission for s few seconds - that puts some files into the registry, which is the object of the exercise.. (Don't worry what the sim looks like at all )
Exit the sim and then
Install
1. OFF: Between Heaven and Hell (aka Phase 3). This DVD you buy. Now get the sim running how you like it. See the FAQs at Over flanders field website re config file etc.

2. SuperPatch. Once you have installed No.1, then you download for FREE and install this patch.
and then download for FREE a mini patch -
So, that is TWO patches you have downloaded and installed.
Run the sim and check on the Workshops gui ( bottom right ) which should show the version to be
Version 1.32g.

3. Hat in the Ring. This add-on is purchased and is downloaded to you. it is available only by download. It should only be used if you have done 1 and 2 above, i.e you have got version 1.32g.

Below is the wording from the Over Flanders Field website

" In other words you can NOT use Hat in the Ring if you do not have Between Heaven and Hell installed (and updated to V1.32G)."

Besides following the FAQ on configuring BHaH/HItR, you might also checkout Alacrity or EndItAll. They are programs that will stop and restart services when applied.

I use Alacrity and am down to 14 services without any problems. You'll pickup several fps and help the sim to run better. You can also checkout http://www.blackviper.com/ . It's the "holy grail" on OS services.

Currently:
BH&H is ONLY available via DVD.
HitR is ONLY available via download.

Rodster, you are confused. You will have to order OFF Beyond Heaven & Hell (aka Phase 3). It comes on DVD. Then DOWNLOAD the SuperPatch and the minipatch (1.32g) and install them in correct order. they are free. SuperPatch should not be referred to as an "expansion." The expansion is Hat in the Ring (HiTR). Download HiTR last. You have to buy it. There is no DVD for HiTR. You can't skip the Superpatch and minipatch and go right to the expansion (HiTR).

Thanks the expansion I was referring to was HiTR. I wasn't aware of the patches as I don't have OFF Phase 3.

Btw, is there a place that sells OFF P3 with less shipping than $9.00? Wow I can't stop staring at the shipping costs, ouch. I checked ebay for a used copy of OFF P3 and they're not available.

Gave AMDFusion a try (since my desk looks like an AMD/ATI showroom anyway) and it gave me a nice little performance boost.

Have to restart TIR5 and Fraps after it runs (shuts them both down) but at least I know it's closing programs

I don't get the Phase 3 ? What was phase 1 and 2 ? Is Phase 3 what i just bought on the DVD from the site ?

I'm hoping I will be able to run this maxed out on the settings. I just built a new pc.

You bought Phase 3. That's the actual version. Phase 1 and Phase 2 were free but were limited comparing with Phase 3. Phase 1 and 2 gave you just a taste of the Phase 3.
There is an expansion which is HiTR with new planes and with a lot of new improvements, that I'm sure you'll buy if you like the sim.

I've wondered about this Mod as I do have a copy of CFS3 and the specs for it are a modest 128Mb Ram 400Mhz Processor 16Mb 3d Vid card, way below what my rig is but the OFF is well way above my PC specs on which I play Il-2, SH4, RO etc.. I want to know if it will run on a 32 bit system AMD 2800 1.5Gb Ram and a 512Mb Vid card?

1st : Yes your rig will be able to run it, i was running it with a 2.4 single proc. and a 256 graphics card, but i had to tone down some graphic features. The better your PC is the better the sim will look. And the sim does not yet take advantage of dual processors, one fast one is better than two slower ones. A good graphics card from Nvidia will also make a difference.

2nd : The original low specifications were for the original CFS3, but Over Flanders Fields phase 3 has not much to do with that anymore, it merely uses the engine of CFS3, but with different graphics and changed hard coding. The quality of e.g. grade 5 in vanilla CFS3 represents the setting of 1 in OFF, so OFF even at the lightest settings is unplayable with a 128Mb Ram 400Mhz Processor and a 16Mb 3d Vid card; in fact scenery graphics set to 5 in OFF are not possible to use, due to the yet limited hardware - maybe later with 16 Gigs of Ram, 8 GHz Dual core and a 16000 front side bus
