Hey Magnum, do you think OF:DR is worth buying? I think there have been some fixes right? I'm finished MW2 (except for Spec Ops), I'm dying for more tactical sims.

well it depends on what you really want... OFP DR is a fantastic co-op game, with up to 4 buddies... but with the MP issues, and the fact that it's hard to find any good games... it may not be worth the cost.

and the fact that the two add-on's cost M$ points to buy... and with the latest add-on they come with two new, untested, MP modes... your paying for MP modes, which is BS IMO.

So I guess my answer would be to skip OFP DR unless you really only want co-op play.

JMO

But the potential for this to be such a great title is there.

BTW... the Spec Op modes (missions) in MW2 are the best part of the game IMO... find me or another friend and be sure to play those modes/missions.

Well I love playing co-op tactical shooters. Hell I still play 4 player co-op in R6 with some buddies. I hope they release one next year but looks like its just going to be Ghost Recon.

I'm not crazy on the MW2 full mp mode. I have quite a few friends on XBL that are good players, just the other idiots online ruin it all for me. If you can get say 8-16 regular players and still be able to rank up, then that would be great.

So sounds like OF:DR is a decent "realistic" game. I'm sure they want to improve it yet aren't allowed to. Being a developer myself I always want to fix things yet rarely get the green light to improve or fix slight issues. The developers who work hard aren't to blame, its more the upper management pushing to get it out and limit how much time is spent on it. Guys like Infinity Ward release games that are super polished and ready yet sells millions. Management don't realize that. Add more time to OF:DR and it'll be great I'm sure.

I agree... As I reported in my E3 2009 report... I talked to both the lead designer, who wanted it a slow and tactical squad based shooter like most of us want, and then I talked with the producer, who was clearing more into competing against the big boys and having the game more action guided.

So I could see, based on just those 2 interviews... the difference between what developers want and publishers want.

Still, if you find it on sale it is a damn good 4 player co-op shooter.

Very funny Raw. A 2Old private MW2 room going belly up on Christmas Week? Fat chance!

Can't wait to check out this DLC. I'm on Raw's FL... who should I look for to try to get in on this?

Crimson, I really like it. I prefer it to ArmA2.

well I was one for 30 mins playing with myself (lol)... 2 co-op servers, and 1 ranked co-op server... no one was playing the new modes... guess games fixes are just too late...will try again on a weekend.

Then played MW2 for about an hour, then called it quits... few were on tonight. wink

You left to early, we had about 4-5 playing MW2 around 9. Sent you an invite but you must have been signing off.

I couldn't get in on the action last night.

I have DR, I enjoyed the few times we played co-op, but I'm gearing up for the Forza 3 season, so Forza 3 is taking up most of my time.

Hey who is this GoGamer.com site? The price is cheaper for OP:DR....cheapest I've seen yet but living in Montreal, it may become more expensive after shipping. frown

Ah! But wait, I know I can have it shipped to a special postal box in say Plattsburgh and then drive down to pick it up. Hmm, I could always say to my gf that we're going to take a drive, go shopping, have dinner then come back. wink

I'd like to play OP:DR but paying $70 for a game that's not quite ripe, just rubs me the wrong way. I believe in supporting but a 75% average rating is a little weak. If the fixes brought it up a notch to be worth it then ok but I doubt its at a level where its a definite buy. Plus EBGames sell it only $10 less unless they get tons of copies.....but I'll check anyway.
