Naumanchia, not out yet but worth keeping an eye on. http://naumachia.aureasection.com/media/The Evochron / Arvoch sims: http://starwraith3dgames.home.att.net/go.htmI've only played a demo, but pretty highly regarded.

You should give Evochron Legends a try. Not bad (price & play) for a one person development team. Very supportive too. Pic of my ship using modded cockpit from Evochron community member named warsign.

i've tried it before...graphics look too old fashioned for me. that's not bad looking though. i know there's another title out there tht we've discussed, and that looks quite good, but cannot remember it. it's not infinity, that one that seems like it'll always be in development (has seamless transitions from planets to space), and it's not russian.

A simulator that's not Russian? That IS rare these days. I know I've read about another sim (actual sim) that would transition from planet to space environment, but I can't find it. I got Parkan 2 not long ago but haven't really played it. Seems ok, but voice acting is bad. It has planetary and space action and ship boarding as an FPS. Not what I'd call a real sim, but you might look into it. Going to keep looking to see if I can find that game I'm trying to think of. You aren't thinking of Angle of Attack are you? One to keep an eye on, but no idea when it comes out. Can't tell if it uses cockpit view. http://www.infinity-universe.com/

Are there any Descent-style games in development?

I have Evochron Legends but haven't played it much. Modded cockpit is a must do though because the stock one is not very good at all. Ever play Evochron MP? I haven't but I read it has persistent universe online so is like playing SP but MP.

Are there any Descent-style games in development? None that I know of. As for space combat games, I was REALLY hoping that BSG game that came out a couple years ago would have been good but it was a purely arcade-type cockpitless space combat game. Sigh.

You don't like the looks of Miner Wars? Looks pretty cool to me... http://www.minerwars.com/
