Hi 1_M
Well I gave it my best shot but cannot get the missions and maps to work. Keep getting
Exception Core 001: Error initialization message after about 29% into the loading process in the poli generaror
Don't know what that means, well it was worth a shot, back to studying the manual Smile2

I have tried to generate one of the downloaded maps on my English version.
The map is generated normally for me.
Try the next way. Unpack and replace files in a folder "data".
In the menu Start -> Programm -> ... -> "Editors and utilities" - "Create new map" - create any map with any name (all additional files of maps necessary for generation of map will thus be created).
After that start "Generate a map" and choose *.poly a file which you have taken from archive.
Unfortunately the author of maps has not taken advantage of function to "pack a map", therefore the additional files necessary for generation of a map the program does not find. Therefore it is necessary to create any one user map.

Hi 1_M
Thank you for your help 1_M but I am still having no luck with those mission's (still getting the same error message), but I am making some small head way trying to build a mission with the mission builder . Do you know of anyone that has done a step by step (non-video) tutorial of a sample mission? I think I understand the parts just not the mechanics of when to impliment them. The manual is very good but omits some critical parts. For example I had to watch fabinfreds video on making contour lines since I didn't see any referance (explanation) to the contour tab in the mission editing/building section in the manual. It would have great if Graviteam would have included a simple basic mission tutorial to walk you through, allowing you to experiment with the gingerbread later, but understanding the basics first is what is sorely needed.

Company Graviteam has made such video-lessons in which the additional and detailed information on creation of maps and missions was told. These lessons are in Russian version. But they haven't been translated by localizer even with subtitles. Therefore video-lessons weren't included into the English version of game.

Unfortunately my knowledge of English language it is not enough to make or translate these lessons into English. frown

P.S. Addition. Source of mission and map from video-lessons lesson_data.zip

Hi 1_M
Will be sure to look at the link, I'm sure I'll figure it out, I maybe slow but I'm steady biggrin And don't feel bad about your English believe me it's much, much better then my Russian thumbsup As far as the mission's you linked they maybe fine, it might be my OS or the mods I already have installed that might be causing a conflict, who can say for sure. It has crossed my mind to do another clean install of SFK42 with the official patch only and give it another try. beercheers

I'm not sure if thats always the case Xambrium, wouldn't temperature play a big part if you would have wet snow with ground that can turn muddy or frozen snow with ground as hard as concrete. We don't get it real often here where I live, but when the temperature drops into the single digits, the snow makes a cracking sound when you walk on it. You can actually tell how cold it is depending on how loud the cracking sound is hahaha
beercheers

You dont get such a perfect white on moving Vehicle parts! Last week i was in Finland, -20° and heavy snow but no single vehicle/Bulldozer had pure white wheels/tracks! wink

Good video link Xambrium, the ending was very poignant, helps us keep things in perspective about the "sim's" we play frown.

What I think stone2009 might have done was substitue the mud and dust textures on the tank for snow textures, very clever and probably very simple if you know how WinkNGrin. I noticed the snow does not become dislodged from the tracks and rollers very easy (like mud), while the snow on the tops and sides of the tank seems to get more opaque after firing the cannon a few times (like dust). I don't think the effect is totally perfect either but it is effectual. The real suprise is it does show the modability of SFK42, a game that was really only designed for one season, one battle, set in one brief moment of time in WW2. I'm also impressed with the ingenuity of the SFK42 modders out there to exploit the tools the developers made available to keep this sim going and expanding for sometime now (at least in RU community). If they can keep it going I do feel we will eventually see an expanded range of armour units and some later battles. I did notice at the Sukhoi forums an individual who pops in here from time to time has made an appeal to the modders there to try and make these mod's compatabile and easier for us here to use, looks like it has worked in this new T-34/85 T-60 mod, I hope it continues.
cheers

Graviteam did a good job on the Vehicles in "Front Roads"(Kharkov43)

They dont look like "Ambulance"-Vehicles, aslo the Uniforms are more realistic, in the Winter Mod the Soldiers look clean like Doctors and Nurses... wink

PS: My favorit moments in the Winter-Mod are the night Battles! Playing them in a dark room on my 26`Monitor is fantastic with all the nice lightning going around on the Battlefield... Charge

Nice video Xambrium, thanks for sharing thumbsup I'm hoping we will be able to get the western release of FRK43 very soon.
