This actually came from the Never Say Die thread and I thought it was worthy of it's own. I was searching through Google and found this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipgnosis

Scroll down through it and look at all the groups and album's that this company did the art for. It's a who's who of awesome album covers.

That is one of the sad things to me that came with CD's and getting rid of vinyl albums.

I used to really like Creams covers also.

I see one of my old favourites there. T.Rex - Electric Warrior

I have alway enjoyed Joe Walsh's album artwork.

http://www.softshoe-slim.com/lists/w/walsh.html#2

Scroll down to see the covers. Look to the right of them and you will see a long history with The Eagles members before he even joined. I didn't realize that most of them did a lot of his back up work.

I didn't think about that until after I posted but the album covers I posted are so old they are probably public domain now. Anyway, why is it ok to embed possible copyrighted videos from youtube and other places and not pics that are freely available all over the internet? IMO, the powers at SimHQ paid too much attention to some lawyer type here and are being paranoid.

Roger Dean always did great things for Yes.

Derek "Master of the Universe" Riggs has always done great album covers for Iron Maiden, but I think this is his best.

And who would have thought that the advent of the CD would have pretty much spelled the end of the elaborate album cover art era?

A lot of people knew that was going to happen and I remember it being a topic of conversation.

Yes I am old and remember when we had vinyl. I had to replace a lot of album's with CD's.

I cant even remember what was the last LP that I bought. I remember switching to cassettes sometime in the 80's because I just found them to be more convenient.
