There is really not much in the readme on this topic.
The reason I ask is that my older rig struggles a bit with 1.28C.
P4 2.6Ghz Gforce 6800GT 256M 2G RAM. Win XP SP2
I also have a dual boot to Win98 with a 16M Voodoo3 card. In that configuration I have to reduce my RAM to 512M to accomodate Win98.
I will admit I have not done a lot of experimentation with INI parms, etc. Nor have I done a real comparison between native Glide, D3D and Glide wrapper performance.
Thanks for any info.

You don't need to reduce your 98box memory. You need to optimize you system for 98. That means using 'highmen.sys'and putting together a 'config.sys and autoexec.bat that allows you to use memory above the 1 gig level. my 98box has at least twice the memory you are using. 98SE has a 2 gig upper limit. Would you mind posting some examples? I did this due to errors while attempting to start up my win98 partition and was following MS's advice to limit my memory to 512M.

NP. I'm looking through some tech-support type threads here and there. Just to know I may have some options is helpful.
Thanks.

I really need to do some exhaustive testing at this point because I have an ideal situation to test Glide vs. D3D on my rig.
As I said, my Win98 partition is configured with a Voodoo3 card so I am running native Glide over there. My testing last night with a SPAW quick mission maintained a pretty consistant 50+ FPS rate. (This was after I managed to get 1+ Gig of RAM allocated to the Win98 system.
I need to run a similar mission on my XP/6800GT/D3D partition and see what kind of results I get.

Hi,
if the 6800GT work at all, you should be dissapointed in 3d mode.
EAW + WinXP and rather modern graphiccards very often have trouble with bad slowdowns in 3d mode.
This is most probably driver related. The same sytem in glide mode(with help of Zeckensack´s glidewrapper) perform with up to 150 fps(depending to the settings).

Whats about closing in to 4-mots??
With more modern systems the fps in 3d mode vary often extreme downward as soon as planes(specialy 4-mots) get in sight.
