I recall once seeing a movie set in the closing stages of WW3. Details are a bit hazy, so feel free to transpose nations/locations by a few either way wink

The setting was a French Army Military Hospital, there were para-dropped heat-seeking directional mines, and a 'romantic interlude' by a secluded river interrupted by the emergence of some AMX30 from the depths, people dying from radiation sickness.

Anyone have any recollection of a similar film? I've been looking casually for a while but haven't identified anything yet.

Could be French language, but unsure tbh. Definitely broadcast on UK terrestrial TV in the 80s. The tanks if not AMX30 were something very close, with that slightly 'melted' look of the turret side - unless my brains is addled and that is what I want them to have been wink ...

"Le Toubib" with Alain Delon. 1979 French film. Very bad film IMHO.

I'm sure it is, but I felt nostalgic... And frustrated that I couldn't find it anywhere... Thanks a bunch. I'll see if the video rental place has it in it's largeish collection of weird foreign stuff...

If nothing else I found a clip of the AMX30 climbing out of the river that my daughter will like...
