Have you read the other Clancy books? If not, you really should read Without Remorse and Clear & Present Danger - his two best books IMO.

Those are my favorites up until the last one Teeth of the Tiger. For some reason that one just jumped out at me and I hope he follows it up with another good one.

For good plane and hotel room reading...non work related pick up a Brad Thor novel. They move fast and are so far out there in the one man against another bad guy with thugs series that it actually makes it a good read. Truly for an action mindset though.

I am re-reading The Corps series from W.E.B. Griffin. I really liked those when I was in high school and college to take my mind off studies for a while and they are still engaging enough to keep me focused.

Also re-reading the Ceasar series and reading the Genghis Khan series by Conn Iggulden; if you haven't read those I do recommend them for fictional take on the historical characters. When you go into the series do not go into it expecting a historical breakdown of the people and cultures; go into them with an open mind and expecting to read a good fictional account of historical figures.

I loved these and the Men in Blue series. I don't like the new ones his son is writing.

I haven't read Clear & Present Danger, but I did read Without Remorse. Quite an interesting introduction to the character that we know of as Mister Clark.

A couple things I'm on the lookout for is his Fighter Wing, which I'm curious of just from the point of view of being enamoured with fighter aircraft, and John Birmingham's last book in the Axis of Time trilogy, mostly for closure. I suppose you could add Paolini's last book in the "for closure only" category too, but I'm not sure I'm that desperate yet.

Clancy at his best. You owe it to yourself to read it, especially if you liked Without Remorse and Mr. Clark. One bad-ass character! biggrin

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

That was my favorite Clancy novel, seemed less far-fetched then the others.

At the moment reading:

John Adams by McCollough:
http://www.amazon.com/John-Adams-David-McCullough/dp/141657588X

- After watching the HBO miniseries on the 2nd President of the US I felt like getting the book it was based on. Not too far in yet, but it seems a bit overly hagiographic so far...

Just finished the autobiography of Joe Sutter, the designer of the Boeing 747:
http://www.amazon.com/747-Creating-Worlds-Adventures-Aviation/dp/B001O9CH4I

Nice read, though he is bit too happy about himself, i.e. all conflicts mentioned have one hero, himself.

Just finished Sully Sullenbergers autobiography:
http://www.amazon.com/Highest-Duty-Search-Really-Matters/dp/0061924687

Great man and great read! All you'd want to know about the emergency landing in the Hudson and the man who pulled it off.

Lately read:

Team of Rivals, Pulitzer-prize winning book on Lincolns Civil War government by Doris K. Goodwin:
http://www.amazon.com/Team-Rivals-Political-Abraham-Lincoln/dp/0684824906

Absolutely superb read about my favourite politician of all time. Critical and balanced view of the man and his politics.

Masters and Commanders by Andrew Roberts about how the Western Allies waged WWII, a look at the war by comitology and the evolving strategies forged by Roosevelt, Churchill, Marshall and Brooke. Makes you understand that WWII could have happened in many other ways than it did.
http://www.amazon.com/Masters-Commanders-Four-Titans-1941-1945/dp/0061228575

His history of WWII is excellent as well, a new and refreshing look focusing on why Germany lost the war:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Storm-War-History-Second-World/dp/0713999705

Hope I have inspired you to some Christmas presents!

A draft for publication (Mathematical Textbook)

Manuals and tutorials.... tons of it, for every software I think that can help improve my job.

Sorry for being vague and without details (I think I'm a bit paranoid today so I'm withholding some info)

On the side (well, these I feel comfortable giving in detail):
Dungeons and Dragons
-Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
-Player's Handbook
-Dungeon Master's Guide
-Deities and Demigods

surprising thing is I don't play Dungeons and Dragons. I bought these books just to get into the setting of its "universe" since I'm planning to make a script using the Dungeons and Dragons world.

Does it come with a list of the parts you need?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

No Mean Soldier by Peter McAleese, an autobiography of a interesting man, was a member of the U.K. and Rhodesian SAS, a South African Para and later a "private contractor". Good little read.

I like to have several books on the go at the same time as well, that way I can pick and choose which one to read depending on what mood I'm in.

I'm currently reading:

'The Last Lion: Winston Spenser Churchill' by William Manchester
'Lolita' by Vladimir Nabokov
'Our Mutual Friend' by Charles Dickens
'Matter' by Iain Banks

Recently finished:

'Drood' by Dan Simmons
'A Good Clean Fight' by Derek Robinson
'The Fall of Berlin 1945' by Anthony Beevor
'The Collapse of the Third Republic' by William Shirer

On deck:

The Aubrey/Maturin series (again, but I recently got my Mum interested in reading these so I'll read along with her)
'Transition' by Iain Banks
'Sketches by Boz' by Charles Dickens
'The Reavers' by George MacDonald Fraser

And having a little toddler, my evenings are often filled with Paddington bear, The Wind in the Willows, Alice in Wonderland, Mother Goose, Charles Perrault, Beatrix Potter and Hans Christian Andersen.

Sauron, it's good to see another William Blake fan out there.

Currently reading "The Black Echo" by Michael Connelly

Last book finished: The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
Next up:

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Recommended Author: Gene Wolfe (Book of the New Sun, in particular)
