Hi:

Don't know if the folks behind YAP2 are still looking for stories to tell in YAP2 missions, but these would be two good ones:

Solo night strike on the Hanoi ferry slip by an A-6A
http://www.intruderassociation.org/navy_cross_archive.html
(second story on that page, "Hanoi Tonight")

Flak suppression for A-4s mining the Kim Quan ferry crossing
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3897/is_200304/ai_n9222097

The second would make a nice complement to the "John McCain" mission (671026). Whether the crew members from the above are still alive or can be located, I do not know.

Best,

Eric L. Howes

We were looking for one for Nils RA-5C but I think we found one. The trouble with doing those stories is we have to believe it also. I guess we can make up a story, too, but our hearts are just not in it. And finding those guys is tough. Most don't think a "video game" is the place to spin a yarn. They think YAP is Donkey Kong.

Zerocinco,
If you would like to get in touch with Lyle Bull (BN for the VA-196 mission in the story "Hanoi tonight"), I can set that up. Lyle is living in Whidbey Island as a retired 2-star. It's a good story.

BTW, Awesome game. Keep the missions coming - yours and the entire teams efforts are really appreciated. Ever think about gettting a booth at the Tailhook convention in Reno (each September) and demo-ing it?

Regards,
Deke

Well, we spent 6 months making a mission to suck up to The Hook magazine and received an invitation to buy ad space...so at least we weren't thrown overboard. : )

One of our failings is the absence of a good hands-on demo. I think we could get out of the bell jar we are in if we were to do the airshows and conventions. That is our plan once the last set is out. I have shown YAP to people at Edwards and Mojave. They are always amazed but then they go outside and climb into a real airplane and fly off. We are working on a laptop with a beer can holder so we can attract more pilots to the game.

As far as Lyle Bull, another failing is the A-6A. We are going to run quite a few missions off the CVAN-65 in the next set but Magical Bombing is not something we can pull off well. They just weren't dive bombers. (The fact that they actually hit what they were sent to hit still doesn't play out well in WOV.) I have/had several friends that flew Intruders and I would like to use it more. I think we would need a new model, though. (It's only money.) As far as portraying what it was like to be in an Intruder during a mission, that we can do, I think. I wish I had that pit file. We could make it work in both seats. That's something Kesselbrut could do in his sleep.

So both of those are terrific suggestions. We will shoot for the latter and continue to try to pull off some YAPCRAP with the bombing system.
