No it's not. They mixed everything in the "General Discussions" forum. It's more of a mess now, than it was before.

I guess I disagree. I like them on one page; much like this forum.

If you like lots of sub-folders with strange and unusual titles then the old ROF forums must have been heaven.

Needs a flight physics forum and one for paint schemes - at the very least.

I have to hand it to the forum designer/admin, combining the 'Game Issues' threads into the general discussion thread is a great move. Instead of having almost 10,000 posts with people posting about game related problems they have now got a technical issues thread with 2 posts. The casual visitor will now see a massive popular thread called general discussion and a tiny little insignificant thread regarding technical issues.

Slick move smile

Oh wow, it really does make quite a difference. Thanks for the heads-up. I had been avoiding the forums there because they were too complicated. I thought it was just me!

I disagree, 2005AD - the old structure was a nightmare of nesting trees that made finding out if a problem was widespread, a question already answered, or simply where to put a post to begin with.

I spent five minutes tracking down where exactly a thread that discussed what features should be in a DF map (which had a dev involved in it, which made it important to me) as it was sort of a guessing game as to where I saw it.

Think of it as a baby step towards realizing that clean user interfaces that don't require many steps that are ultimately disconnected from each other are the order of the day.

[edit]

I love this translation of the purpose of one of the areas:

Quote:
It can flooding and post everything that does not respect the game.

(That's the anti-Cartman forum)

"The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Some will like it - some won't. Proof again of the old adage that you can't make everyone happy.

Those of you who are not happy, try posting some suggestions in the feedback and suggestions topic.

( i'd add to your topic ideas -- a mission / skin download area!!)

A lot better. I avoided it before as it was such a mess.

EDIT: It looks like Neoqb web site admin have moved a lot of the old game issues threads into the new tech issues forum. It is now so much better and more logically laid out.

My following statements are now worthless, thanks Neoqb beercheers

Sorry, but the 'game issues' sub forum should have been made the new technical issues sub forum. Frankly it is flat wrong to see scores of technical threads asking for, or giving help littered among the general discussion topics. The Game Issues thread on RoF forums had threads with great info and help with graphics problems, performance issues, control problems etc. Moving these threads into general discussion is a poor decision by virtue of the fact that every forum I have ever been on knows to keep tech issues seperate for ease of access. If the SimHQ general topics forums were to suddenly become flooded with tech support issues the forum regulars would rightly be up in arms.

I have seen the mods here on SimHQ (including you Dart) move tech help related threads opened in the general disussion forums to the correct tech help sub-forum. I can understand and see why you would do that because the thread was in the wrong place. I agree the new format on the RoF site is much better, but in the interest of accessability and keeping all the relevant data in the correct place the game issues sub-forum would have been better simply being renamed to the Technical Issues forum.
