OK...How about this...Buy 6 and get 2 free . Heck, I always get a free lateh after my 5th one or have 5 beers and get 1 free (2 if she's not looking) so why not the planes?

Alternatively, release a version of RoF that includes the Dr. I and Camel and leaves out two other starter planes (leave out the Nieuport 28 and Albatros D.Va, for example).

Or release a version that only includes the Dr. I and Camel.

It's not fair either way to those who already own the game and would've preferred to have the Dr. I and Camel included instead, but it's one way to solve the problem.

I was thinking along these lines recently.

Hows about anyone who buys ROF from new now gets a choice of 4 flyables from Neoqb's current list. That sounds the most fair tbh.

No way that Neoqb are going to give existing punters the two most popular crates for free, just no chance.

Too messy. The grasping multitude would just take them without a thank you and then #%&*$# that they would rather have had a different aircraft for free instead.

Well, I actually get pissed for every new plane they spend time on before fixing the base game... Bought it days after the western release and I have just played it for a few hours. I had really anticipated it but it feels like an alpha. Fix some good campaigns and offline AI that works a bit like a human, fix the multiplayer functionality so it at least is as good as almost 10 year old IL2!

Got a mail from Neoqb asking why I hadn't bought any planes (guess you all got it). Lots of silly answers like "I want to master to original ones first", but no alternative "Nope, I stopped playing the game until you have finished it!"...

The game has so much potential and they are not that far away, but as it is now I rather play something else while they fix it...

I don't have any problem with the adding aircraft at this point, they're one of the main things missing from core ROF, they are also obviously a money spinner for Neoqb which is OK.

With the DR1 and Camel we have a decent selection of scouts from late 1917-18, now we need 2 seaters. The obsy types don't need to be flyable imo more important as AI although Neoqb may want to make them flyable to make us pay for them.

Once we have a smattering of common 2 seaters then asking Neoqb to add base features would be very valid imo. Of course they may say that the guys that produce the aircraft don't fix the campaigns or program the track player as Maddox have over the years.

The thing I miss most at the moment is the track player.

Two-seaters? Hmmmm.....

Is it soo hard to understand, that there are different people working on the new planes, than those who are fixing bugs and adding other content? I guess it is.

Like it has been said million times already, this "fix the game before spending time to make new planes" doesn't make any sense at all. What should the model, texture and sound guys do, while the programmers are fixing bugs? Picking their nose? No. If you don't want new planes, don't buy them. Simple. But not-releasing new planes doesn't help fixing bugs.


I like the idea, aslong as you don't have to buy them in packs at the same time, because i usually buy the planes at it's release, but only if i'm interested in them. So waiting a few month until they have those 5+1 planes that i would like, doesn't work for me, because i would've bought some of those planes already.


It's coming in the 1.009 update, from what i've heard. So one month to wait.

Good news on the track player front

Well, since you are buying anyways wouldn't it be nice to know that once you have bought X amount of planes that when you want to you can select the next plane you want for free?

Ok, just rambling thoughts here......

I think NEOQB (On a marketing stand point) Would like to be able to reward their customers for supporting them without giving the cow away with the milk (This is from my perspective and not to be interpreted as a statement from NEOQB) There are 2 primary parts to a sale (In my line of thinking anyway). The initial sale then the repeat sale to the same customer. One of the best ways (Not the only way) to make the repeat sales is to reward your customers for their business but in a way that your customer will not expect you to be giving them freebies all the time. And of course one way is buy X then get X free. Then of course there's the value for the dollar and so on. As we can see ROF will be in a continuous growth with added features and such. If they ever get a MMO going I'm sure that this will add tremendous sales and continuous purchases of new planes/additions to the Sim. I for one hope that this is the case. Even though I have been pissed at a few of the short comings (MP, AI snipers, campaign etc..) I still get great enjoyment out of this Sim. And with Lasers QMB all the more so (Thanks Laser!).

And on a personal note I would like to Thank Noeqb for producing this sim and Jason from Studio 777 for keeping us abreast with the latest info.

Oh, just wait until they have a "1918 Fun Pack" where one gets six planes for 25 USD or "Rise of Flight Gold" with eight flyables as part of the basic purchase in a year or two - the howling will be epic.

That's pure, unadulterated speculation on my part, btw.

I know I will love the Dr1 and Camel. BUT... what's the point of buying either one when as a Dr1 pilot I will 95% of the time be instantly shot down by any AI-piloted aircraft, however inferior the enemy aircraft might be.

Same-Same when flying the Camel.

It's pointless.

When they fix the AI, I'll buy more aircaft.

I think I may need to make an article on how to beat the RoF AI, as a lot of people have serious problems against them.

Good to know, because they said like a million times already, that they've fixed the AI in the coming update which is less than a week away.

Will you be charging for it Dart, or will you give it away for free?
