I have no problem with sequels or remakes as long as they contribute to the industry "moving forward", (e.g. Star Trek, or Batman begins which led to The Dark Knight)
IIRC the much analyzed Hamlet was born out of perfecting an idea already existing. Also IIRC Batman was also an idea at a time when Billionaire playboy superheroes were flooding the market. Probably can't blame "us" or them during their time for thinking "not another one!" but when you get a good concept perfected... that's something people will enjoy.

Too bad Mel Gibson won't return... would be cool to see how they customize Zimmer frames.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I hope they go heavy on the post apocalyptic highway carnage, and light on the assless leather chaps. Seconded...unless it's Jessica Biel in the assless leather chaps.

Add this to the long list of unnecessary sequels. I mean why are they even bothering?
Dude, if they took your advice after Mad max, there would be no Road Warrior or Thunderdome!!! Those were GREAT!

I think you misunderstood my initial post. I didn't say that ALL sequels were unnecessary. I was inferring that I felt Mad Max 4 specifically was an unnecessary sequel since Mel Gibson wont be in it and because the previous sequel, "Beyond Thunderdome" came out over 20 years ago and it wasn't very good either. IMHO, the Mad Max films should have stopped after "The Road Warrior".

I'm willing to give it a chance. That world is ripe with possibilities for good stories.

The original was largely conceived and written as a result of the oil crisis in the early-to-mid-1970s. With the current anxiety and uncertainty around peak oil and alternate energy sources, the social commentary underlying Mad Max is just as relevant now as it was then.

Ok, I buy that. Besides, Sam Worthington is a good actor and if he ends up being in the new film then there may be hope.

Yeah but if he's driving a Prius I will have to order an airstrike on the movie industry.
