My daughter, 13, is intent on getting a MAC for her birthday. Any suggestions on the best place or site to get one?

An Apple store, I would guess, if there's one near by.

I was just wondering if there were any known places or sites with better pricing than the Apple stores.

I think Apple is fairly strict on pricing, so you may not see much variation. I'm pretty sure Apple sells refurbs on their site, and as long as you get an Intel-based system, you'll probably do OK with one of those. It's possible they also have a school discount or something.

We get ours from the Apple store online under the refurbished section. Our company has purchased numerous mac's from there over the years and haven't had a single issue with any of them. They all smell like they're brand new and they don't cost as much and they still have a warranty.
