Lawsuit seems heavyhanded, but I guess it is The American Way... Sad.

What is strange is that those women teachers would surely say that they fight for equal rights between men and women. Well, it is a victory for that fight that men now sometimes take their kids to school!

I`ll bet the women teachers that gave issue are divorced to with custodial issues of their own. Its a plague in this country. My son only knows 2 other kids in his school that do
not come from broken homes. They are always being shuttled from one parent to the other.

School board must have the same problem to mandate both parent sign if the mother was not
there. Its tragic to put kids through custodial fights.

I understand your being insulted. Especially since you were bringing the kids TO school, not FROM school. Society today just thinks that men are basically evil and women aren't. Yes it is sad.

I'm wondering how it's gone since then. Are you taking the kids to and from school? If so, how did you get around "school policy"?

Good luck on this.

Since I really had no choice because of my wifes work schedule, she signed the papers and I have no problems. Now I realize to some this should be the end of the problem, but for a person who has been the primary parent for my childrens life, it is highly insulting, sexist, and all become I have dangly bits.

I know some think that the lawsuit is heavy handed but IMHO, this is the ONLY language these people understand.

You say it's fixed and you have no problems now. So what is the issue ? Surely you are enough of a man to shake off a little embarrassment and inconvenience.

Are you sure that this isn't all about "get some money" ?

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

If I was in the original poster's shoes, I would do something similar though I would try other avenues before resorting to legal action. It's not about money, it's about principle. The school board policy as described is discriminatory, ill-conceived, insulting and it needs to be changed. If legal action against the school board is the way to achieve that, then so be it.

Reverse it and see how it sounds.

In order for a woman to be able to drop off or pick up her child at school, she must first obtain written permission from her male spouse.

That would send feminist ("equal rights!) and right wing ("it's Sharia law!) interest groups wailing in protest, complete with sit-ins and three hour "Special Reports" on the 24 hour news networks.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

I didn't see mention what school district is being sued, but have any other fathers here seen this issue? I'm sure that at some point in the school year a Dad has to drop in to pickup his kid... was there flak, or paperwork, or anything?
