Wow. Just wow. I pray to the flight sim gods that Damon and the rest of the Otters can revive our beloved RB3D. Just having the name "Damon Slye" back in the flight sim mix makes me feel better!

I believe something will come of it. They don't need the code for anything but to investigate the DYNAMIC Campaign functions, except possibly, Squadron historical info (which was far from complete ot correct). This function has never been reproduced in any sim/game that I know of. This would imply a serious consideration toward producing a similar Campaign behavior in a new WWI sim. I wish them and us luck!

It was developed from scratch and is one of the main reasons for the immersion within the sim.

This is really good news,
I have played the rash of sim's after RB and I must say that none of them have captured the flavor RB/RB2 had.IMHO OFF did not appeal to me much as it runs of of the CFS 3 engine and the CFS3 damage model sucked big time.I'm really looking forward to a true RB 2 successor.I loved the dynamic campaign and the mass of squadron's and aircraft types.

How about acquiring a license for the ROF engine and building a nice GUI and dynamic campaign around it...that would be the perfect game...

Alexander That sounds more like a mod project to me, but I see where you're coming from Alexander, and having that, no matter where, or how, or from who it comes from sounds great.

Can we discuss any sim without having a go at Rise of Flight, Alexander?
Sheesh.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

He Dart, he had just a idea. Is it such a problem speaking of using a great engine and add some stuff to it? EDIT: Ok, I see. He also posted about in the RoF section...

Sheesh. What? Why this personal attack? Where did I have "a go at ROF"? Are you sure you are not confusing me with somebody else? I only posted the link (No further comment! Just the link.) in the ROF forum because I figured it would be interesting to the crowd of another WW1 sim as well. What is wrong about that? I certainly do have some criticism regarding ROF but it is not that I'm running around trying to convince everybody that ROF is evil or something like that (look at my post counter: 203 and most of that in the IL2 forum). Actually I rarely post in the ROF forum and this was my very first post in another subforum where ROF is mentioned. And if you read my post in this thread closely without jumping to conclusion first...there actually is quite some praise for ROF in there. And you might believe it or not...I liked the demo. ROF is just not made for SP at the moment and that is why I didn't buy it so far. Actually I would prefer if you could delete your post. Alexander

Seriously.....
Why all the sensitivity over the possibility of a new WWI sim? I suppose we might have some ROF and OFF developers among us who, for obvious reasons, don't want the competition, but as a sim consumer I am delighted with the offerings we have today. And let's not fool ourselves into thinking any of them are perfect.
Now from what I can tell, if you have the right rig (and for ROF, an internet connection??) both OFF and ROF are fine products. Even First Eagles has it's charms (not the least of which its modability and its lack of DRM.)
Can Mad Otter do anything worthwhile with RB? Who knows, but it doesn't cost anyone anything but time to find out. Why folks are so negative over the idea just amazes me.

Yeah, you're right - guess a late night and too much reading in the RoF forums had me seeing red.
Alexander, you're a-okay. Shouldn't have whacked you with an Internet stick.
