First, thank you to all involved in this project. 1.Slovakia winter map = hard water. 2.On Slovakia winter and summer QMB Scramble mission the SM 79 spawns in hanger and breaks in half. SM79 spawns fine on other maps outside hanger. Tried with JU88, similar size, all is well, other planes ok.

Slovakia summer map quick mission - if you select "Axis" and mission type "Scramble," you start out on an Allied airfield and get torn to pieces by unfriendly flak.

nforce chipset motherboards (a7n8x) require the mg_snd*.* files from 4.08m; otherwise, game does not start.
Possibly affects all similar configurations using older on-board sound. Can confirm this impacts my rig. I use an old KT400-based mobo (A7V8X) and a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz PCI sound card. With a clean 1946 DVD install and then patched to 4.08m and then 4.09m the game just does not start. I get the little CD-type icon, then nothing, and il2fb.exe disappears from task manager. Replacing the versions of mg_snd.dll and mg_snd_sse.dll installed with 4.09m with the 4.08m versions, as suggested above, gets everything working again.

And BTW Team Daidalos, why did you bring back SecureRom, the requirement to have the game disk in the tray? I thought we were well and truly beyond that silliness with IL-2.
Ahhm... we didn't. The patch was compiled from all our content by OM's team. And there wasn't any security stuff in our content (we don't have even a clue about such things). On the other side I doubt, that Oleg did include something like that in the patch. So I just suppose you made a clean install from DVD/CD, which brings naturally the Securom stuff with it. You need to exchange the necessary files as you did before and you are good to go.

Worked soon as I replaced the files. Thanks!!

Many thanks Daidalos Team and all for this great patch. I wondered if anyone has experienced sound distortion since patching? I'm working with a clean 4.08m installed patched to 4.09m. It may be something else - just chcking in before I do more drastic troubleshooting.

I don't think this is a bug exclusive to 4.09m, but I will report it anyway.
Take a P-38 up high and you will notice that the contrails for this plane are not appearing DIRECTLY behind it like other planes. The contrails are actually appearing ABOVE and behind the plane.
I have screenshots if you would like to see them. Obviously, this is in a totally unmodded 4.09m.

... So I just suppose you made a clean install from DVD/CD, which brings naturally the Securom stuff with it. Ahh... Yes, I made a clean install without altering anything. Welcome back SecureRom. :p You need to exchange the necessary files as you did before and you are good to go. Okay, thanks... Need to search the archives to figure out what I did before. It's been *that* long, I have no idea how I got it working without the (stuff) before. ~~~ To keep this on track, sort of, did the 4.09m patch alter any existing single-player missions? I ask because I flew one at random to test various settings with the new installation I made and came across a strange occurrence. Single Player -> Luftwaffe -> Me-262HG-II -> 'Armada from the East' mission My virtual self got himself head-shot, but my aircraft was trimmed up enough to fly on without me (nothing too odd there). Eventually my aircraft slammed into the ground ... and bounced right back into the air again, and gained speed. After a while the flaming ball was moving over 1000kph (at one point 1400kph), repeatedly hitting the ground and bouncing back as if it were indestructable. Which made me look at the difficulty settings to be sure that my aircraft could indeed be destroyed. Yes, the difficulty settings were properly set. Perhaps that's an old issue with the Kiev map (I know that map has various issues associated with it)... if so, I apologize for taking your time. Oh, I do appreciate the fact the AA gunners no longer shoot at parachutists. I always found that to be rather rude of them.

Hi all, hope this is'nt rehashing over "stuff" already discussed. Anyway, I just installed the new 409m patch over an unmodded, fresh install and the following happens when I try to start the game. The game seems to start normally, shows the loading screen, laods to 5% and then crashes to windows. Any help available or ideas? I'm running windows xp, Ati 4850, Pentium 4,3.6 ghz, pretty much run of the mill. Thanks, Bud215

Bud215, the same problem happens with me. I installed over the un-modded 409 beta. Running Windows Vista on my notebook with an Intel T5450 1.66 GHz core duo. Loads to 5% then drops back to the desktop.
Update: Un-installed 4.09 beta, re-installed 1946 off the DVD, then the 4.09 patch - same result as above.
OK, I worked it out. Some of you others might have hit the same snag as me, so here goes:
My 1946 DVD is version 4.07 which won't take the 4.09 patch directly- you have to install the 4.08 patch, then the 4.09 full patch will install with no problems. Hope this helps anyone else who, like me, must have been a blond in a previous life.

Hmmm. Certain Scramble missions with Lerche aircraft don't seem to work that great. So I don't spend hours looking.. Which ones ? Wheels
