I'm confused by Tvrdi's last post - is he saying he *has* tried reverting to 1005 and the problem went away? And that after that it came back the moment he upgraded to 1006 again?

FWIW, I get the stuttering slideshow now after the latest patch. Flew smoothly immediately before. Usually after a patch I get the weird graphic glitches until the sim "calms down" after a few days. As it is, it is so unflyable that it doesn't stay on long enough to see if the LSD grahics appear.

FS9, FSX, OFF, WOE/V/I/SF2V, First Eagles, BoBII, 1946, SH3, SH4, AOEIII, all still run as smoothly as oiled glass. I can't say how ROF runs in a twenty plane dogfight because I can't even run it anymore in Russian Roulette, and up until the day before the latest patch ROF was also in the oiled glass department.

I know airplanes and not computers but I've been told the following are my specs:

ASUS M3N-HT
PC Power & Cooling 750W ATX12V
AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Quad Core (10GHz total processor power)
2GB CORSAIR XMS2
1 Terrabyte Western Digital SE16
ASUS EN9800GX2 1GB video RAM

Didn't you say the problems started after the 1006 patch? That would mean you need 1005 version - typo?

OK my pigy-english bothers you? Ill try with this:

v1005 full clean install of the game = no stutters, no slowdowns, trackir smooth and fast...FPS above 60+

v1005 full install + 1006 patch applied through automatic update upon game start = stutters, slodowns, during stuttering FPS drops under 30, trackir is sluggish and not smooth

game, now patched to v1006 + 1007 patch applied through automatic update upon game start = stutters, slowdowns, during stuttering FPS drops under 30, trackir is sluggish and not smooth

then i uninstalled the game...downloaded full 1006 version of the game (from Direct2Drive)

v1006 full clean install = again, stutters, slowdowns, during stuttering FPS drops under 30, trackir is sluggish and not smooth

now its time for to say that Im crazy and that I need help biggrin

That's why I meant you should go for a v1005 full clean install and NOT apply anymore patches until at least 1008. Obviously 1006 introduced something, so if we can't help you isolate it, your best bet would be to run 1005 for now.

Well yeah, if you are into MP, that's really not a good workaround, but I thought it would give you at least something to do while waiting for an official fix.

I get the weird graphic glitches... LSD grahics

Sounds like graphics card drivers Jim, some problem with textures not being found/not being handled correctly, did you update your graphics card's drivers lately? Driver Cleaner Pro or Drivers Sweeper are useful

OK, so you have not tried reverting to 1005. That should be your next step. If you revert to 1005 and the problem goes away, then upgrade to 1006 again and it comes back, then you were definitely right, 1006 caused the issue. If you revert to 1005 and the problem remains then your assumption that 1006 caused the problem is proven to be false and you can start considering other possibilities.

At the risk of sounding like asking you to grease your RAM....

Did you add the EVGA Enhancment 14 awhile back for 1005? And not update it to 16 if you're running the .62 drivers?

a shot in the dark...

rabu, as a student I worked in a harware shop Im not a noob in that area.....btw I have one i7 cpu, ONE HDD, ONE optical drive and one GTX 275 GPU.....Corsair 550VXEU can deliver more that enough for all...believe me...overheating? nope....
I noticed that some ppl like to exaggerate with the PSU power...waste of money
I can try to disable hyperthreading in bios then i will see......but like I said its not my hardware...This time its a software...be sure

OK, I was just tying to think of something that might have been missed. Didn't mean to suggest that you don't know what you're doing, and as I said, it sounds like you have a really good rig, lot better then I have.

To tell you the truth, I haven't been flying much in ROF, have had very little time, and I'm just not drawn to it as much as that "other sim," which is more interesting to me.. all OFF the record. Anyway, will fire ROF up tonight and see if I notice any stuttering with this new patch.

Hi, Ming. Yes, I went through all that a couple weeks back. Some time ago I read over at Neoqb that they are aware of this problem with some folks and it's in the que.

Mind you, the LSD graphics don't happen too often; mostly right after a patch and then they taper off over time, until the next patch. This happens only with ROF. Every other sim is oiled glass perfection, playing/graphics-wise.

Right now, though, I'd just like to get it flyable again. I'll mess with it tomorrow and see what I can find.
