Hello, folks. First time poster here . . .*takes a bow. This was the post that prompted me to register so I could respond. The strangest thing occurred to me concering the
www.riseofflight.com site. I just purchased the game from Newegg (36.99 free shipping--best deal I've found so far) and it is on its way to me via DHL as I write this. Well, anticipating this, I went to the ROF site and registered. Nothing happened so I registered again. And then I found two registration authentication links in my email. That's when the nightmare started. I could not access the site from that point forward. I kept getting "page cannot be displayed" messages.
- I tried from my laptop and still could not get on. So that eliminated the usual (e.g. my anti virus/malware software, my browser--I tried both Mozilla and IE ver. 8. No joy.)
- I called my ISP (Comcast) and asked if perhaps they had blocked the site on their DNS servers. They were able to get to the site no problem. So, I wasn't being blocked from my ISP. I took my router out of the picture and hooked my laptop directly into my cable modem, still no luck. So, that took the router out of the issue ... no firewall problems.
- I emailed ROF and timely though they were (always appreciated) they kept referencing banning in the forums and stated they did not do such things.
- And then today, this afternoon . . .the site came back up as if nothing had happened. So after two live "chats" with Comcast and McAfee tech support, and an additional phone call to Comcast, and a system restore, and about six different power cyclings of my modem/router AND some 27 hours, the site came up on its own as if by magic.
- And now I'm a happy camper.
