I tried womenfly2's suggestion and added a long stick to my joystick. Wow! I usually use a MS Force Feedback2. I have a piece of PCV pipe, about 2 1/2 inches out diameter and 29 inches long. It went on tightly over the joy sick (covering the buttons). I put the contraption on the floor and in such a way as to have full movement of the stick. I started game up and flew for just a bit and was blown away. I can actually be steady now.

With the stick so fat it even made using the twist rudder a charm.

I plan on taking the stick apart, attaching to handle to the top of the pipe and splicing in long enough wires to make this work. I will have to figure out how to attach the small 'nub' on the base to the pipe. Lucky for me I have a CH THROTTLE QUADRANT to use for throttle, mixture and radiator controls.

Seriously though, that's awesome. Sounds pretty ghetto too. Too bad they don't manufacture those!

I'm making sure my wife doesn't see this post. I've finally convinced her that size doesn't matter, and you go and write this!

Well, I am finding it has to be very narrow. I took one of my MS ffb2 sticks apart and started the process. To do a proper attachment to the nub after you remove the handle it looks like I will loose the twist function. No big deal as i am going to make a mouse rudder. At this point I am going for using part of a fishing rod as it is hollow and will stick in to the pipe like nub the handle wraps around. I likely won't get to splicing and soddering the wires together until next week. The new longer wires will go in the inside of the fishing rod. I just have to remember to do the last sodder ends after I thread the wires through the rod.

Great! Long Stick! makes movements steaier...makes sense, I think. BUT, if you lose your Buttons...that's not worth it. If you lose twist rudder (for those of us without Pedals...not worth it.

I'll have to live with hyper-sensitive ROF stick until a ROF patch comes out with a Joystick calibration/sensitivity control selection.

ROF has no "in game" joystick sensitivity control like most games.

I do not want to mess up my joystick with screwing around just for ROF.

I guess you learn to live with the pitch and rudder sensitivity, or try and tune it, or move on.

Long stick design for just ROF is not my cup of tea but if it works for you, good deal.

I won't be loosing most buttons as when I put the handle back on top of the fishing rod the newly extended wires will reach the base and all the buttons on the handle will be active. Putting the base on the floor will make the base buttons not convenient but as I also have a CH Quadrant throttle and this game is a ww1 game I don't think I am missing much. For rudder control I found that I can use two mice. The wireless one will be on a T shaped contraption on the floor and will provide rudder control. I will move my feet on the cross bar with the mouse stuck on the long end of the T. As it is a lazer mouse this will work as the mouse is moved back and forth in a stable fixed arch. I will not be using the wheel. I have tested this on the table and it does work very well. In fact, I have more sensory input from the movement of my feet and the mouse has much more of an arch to travel than the tiny sensors in the joystick.

I have seen the screenshots long time ago on the internet, where guy made that trick, he has Joystick in floor and it’s looked great.
Actually I think it’s easy to do to MSFFB2.

Oh but they do! Look at this. I have one ( who's a lucky boy ? )

http://www.simcontrol.co.uk/offboard.htm

I don;t have the trim on the left, just the X/Y stick and rudders -

But, as you say, - Awesome

cheers

I have a Saitek AV8R-01 that I think I am going to chop up and extend. I don't use it anymore as I have a full CH setup, and I don't want to chop up my nice Fighterstick.

Might be a while before I get around to it, but I will let you guys know how it goes.

Buddye1, I see by your sig that you have a CH Fighterstik so you can do all your sensitivity adjustments through that.

Uriah, just a suggestion, but from my experience you would be better buying a cheap USB stick, rip the innards out and use them for you rudder pedals, I made my set for IL2 and have been using them for about 7 years with no real issues. I just mounted one of the pots from the stick onto a board attached a crossbar and some pedals and away you go, works fine for all the sims I fly, I then have used the left over pots and buttons to make a throttle/mixture control, total cost was about $40AU

I want one of those Spitfire sticks, awesome bit of kit that, I remember when they first started on it, they have certainly done a great job over the last few years.

Thanks dutch and Tiger27. This gives me some ideas. I plan on actually attaching the fishing pole part to the nub on the joystick base. The idea of the structure above the base gives me an idea of also building a structure but I think I will attach springs from structure to pole. As far as the rudder goes I think I will stick to 'mouse on a stick'. As the extra mouse is a lazer mouse and notes fine movement - with noting to ware out but the plastic base sliding on a wood board. In fact, if one did not need the buttons on the handle a marble mouse with a suction cup arrow would work nicely for pitch and roll.
