This man makes a lot of things understandable to me. He is to science what J. K. Rowling is to reading - he makes it interesting and FUN. Back when I had cable TV I used to watch any show on which he was a guest, and I've even stayed up to listen to Coast to Coast AM a couple times because he was a guest.

In case you're wondering why this topic came up, I just read an article about the LHC and he was quoted as saying we need it regardless of the cost.

Just read the same article on the LHC as you. I saw an interesting program on one of the high-def channels a couple months ago..some show that features "difficult fixes" or something. One of the fixes was on the LHC and it detailed the difficulty working with some of those components. I'm always amazed at how large scale projects like that can be put together..all of the capital outlay and construction and planning. Civil engineering (and scientific engineering) are fascinating.

Somethings about him, I don't like:

-His refusal to use nuclear power.
-His condemning of using reactors in space vehicles.
-His AGW stance is wrong, extremely wrong. The more we see the less the evidence points to it being man. For such a bright scientists, he sure lets politics get in the way of the science.

I do like to listen to him talk about the future though.

Kaku popping up here is one helluva coincidence for me. Last night I was just catching up on my annual binge-and-purge of the John Titor business, and Kaku's name came up. So, a funny co-inky-dink this.

No, I don't intend to debate those topics, just stating while I respect him and enjoy his commentary on the future, there are things I find nutty and misguided on.
